Well, the Celtics created history last season by bagging their record eighteenth championship. And now, the big question is: Can they do it again this year? Sure enough, they have started the season red hot, winning ten of their first thirteen games. And they hope to add to that tally tonight as they prepare to face the Toronto Raptors. But the Cs might have to play without one of their key players as Jrue Holiday’ health raises major concern.
Unfortunately, the 2x champion is dealing with left knee tendinopathy. That’s why his status on the ESPN injury report remains questionable. That means tonight could be the first game he misses this season. Sure enough, that’s a massive blow for his team as Jrue has been in great form, averaging 12.8 points and 4 assists.
Moreover, the Celtics are already dealing with Kristaps Porzingis’ absence who is still recovering from his offseason foot surgery. And Joe Mazzulla also revealed after Friday’s practice that the big man is closing in on his return. “He’s getting there. He’s been able to do some stuff on the court. Some reads versus the coaches. Still some up-and-down work, 5-on-1 versus the coaches. He’s getting there.” But he will remain out tonight. And Jaden Springer could also miss his fourth straight as he is questionable with left knee tendinopathy.

On the Raptors’ side, Scottie Barnes remains unavailable for an extended period due to an orbital fracture. Joining him are Bruce Bowen (knee) and Kelly Olynyk (back) who are out with their respective injuries. Meanwhile, Immanuel Quickley also suffered a partial tear to the UCL in his left elbow earlier this week. And he too will not suit up tonight.
Rookie Ja’Kobe Walter has also had an unfortunate start to his career as he re-sprained the shoulder that kept him out for a month earlier this year. And he remains out until further update. Meanwhile, D.J. Carton remains day-to-day dealing with a foot injury.

Positions | Starters | 2nd | 3rd |
PG | Jrue Holiday (Q) | Payton Pritchard | JD Davison |
SG | Derrick White | Jordan Walsh | Xavier Tillman Sr. |
SF | Jaylen Brown | Sam Hauser | Luke Cornet |
PF | Jayson Tatum | Drew Peterson
C | Al Horford | Neemias Queta |
Well, if Holiday does not play, Payton Pritchard could replace him in the starting lineup and see a significant increase in his minutes. Sure enough, he has been solid coming off the bench so far, averaging 16.2 points. Moreover, he has been a three-point threat shooting at an efficiency of 42.7%.
Meanwhile, this is what the Raptors’ depth chart looks like:

Positions | Starters | 2nd | 3rd |
PG | Davion Mitchell | D.J. Carton (DD) | Garrett Temple |
SG | Gradey Dick | Jamal Shead | Jonathan Mogbo |
SF | Ochai Agbaji | Jamison Battle | Ulrich Chomche |
PF | RJ Barrett | Chris Boucher
C | Jakob Poeltl | Bruno Fernando |
Unfortunately, they have had an abysmal start to the season, winning only two games so far. And things are not looking too good for them going forward as they deal with multiple injury concerns. Going by the odds, this should be an easy win for Jayson Tatum and Co. even if Holiday remains out. Do you agree?
