It’s a great day for the Bostonians, as the Boston Celtics brought home the championship title on June 18. Celebrations are due, and the team plans on hosting a parade in Boston, however, that is not where the procession will begin. After winning the championship, the team reportedly has plans on taking the parade to Miami before heading to their home city. That might make you wonder, Why is that?
Well if you were following the NBA season, then it would be a little more obvious that the two teams had an intense rivalry that started way before this season. It was last year that the Boston Celtics were knocked out of the playoffs by the Miami Heat, and upon winning the title, it seems like they want their rivals to know who the winners are. However, it looks like there is a heat wave coming in, and this is a reference to the Miami team, and this could spoil the plans for the winning champions. With the cities on red alert, Mayor Michelle Wu took the responsibility to warn the paraders to stay careful.

Fresh off their victory over the Dallas Mavericks with a commanding 4-1 series win, the Boston Celtics are ready to celebrate. To celebrate the win, the team planned a parade in their city. However, there have been rumors about the team planning on heading to Miami to celebrate their win in the hometown of the team that knocked them out last year. This move not only signals a desire for sweet revenge but also underscores the Celtics’ relentless pursuit of improvement since that bitter defeat.
Now that the team has won the championship title, there are reports of the Celtics wanting to spend some time in their rival town before celebrating at the parade on Friday. But there is one thing to consider if fans are planning on being out during the day and which is that the cities will be struck by a heat wave in the coming days. To notify the people of the heatwave, Boston Mayor, Michelle Wu put out a press release so fans could celebrate the win safely.
In the release, she congratulated the team for their victory, saying, “We are so proud of the Celtics players on and off the basketball court and are ecstatic to host a celebration for banner number 18.“ While Wu is proud of the local team winning the NBA championship, she wanted the citizens to be cautious considering the red alert around the heatwave. Let’s take a look at what she had to say to the paradegoers.
Mayor Michelle Wu’s advice for the Boston Celtics parade
Michelle Wu is extremely happy that the Boston Celtics won the 18th NBA Championship and she programmed a parade in their honor. The parade that will start at 11 am will have players riding on Duck boats as the parade takes them from the TD Garden on Causeway Street through the City Hall Plaza while crossing Boston Common, only to end the parade on Boylston Street by the Hynes Convention Center.
With the cities on red alert, Michelle Wu took the responsibility to warn the paraders to stay careful. On the City of Boston’s official website Wu stated, “While we know how to host a parade in the city of champions, we are reminding everyone to celebrate responsibly, stay hydrated and mindful of the hot temperatures, and reach out to one of the many public safety officials who will be present along the route if you see something that needs attention.”
