Over the last few months, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant went through a roller coaster ride in the NBA world. The 24-year-old star found himself tangled in a lot of controversy. Eventually, the league slapped him with a hefty fine and a 25-game suspension ahead of the 2023-24 season. Along with that, he also faced a lot of criticism and harsh comments from former players and fans in the process. However, on the other side, a Boston Celtics legend issues a warning to NBA regarding Morant’s comeback in the upcoming season.
Importantly, the Grizzlies star has been showing signs of improvement in recent times. After the gun controversy and suspension announcement, the star went almost inactive on social media. Notably, he reacted only after the Memphis side roped in 34-year-old Derrick Rose into the side.

Celtics legend places his bets on Ja Morant
During the tail end of the last season, Ja Morant faced a lot of backlash for his activities off the court. Notably, the star flashed a gun twice during his IG live. Apart from that, he also engaged in violent action after a game against Indiana Pacers. Subsequently, all these incidents largely impacted his image on the court and rightfully so, the league slapped a suspension. While the majority of the views criticized the star, former Celtics star Paul Pierce showed faith in Morant.

Featuring in the latest episode of KG Certified alongside his former teammate Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce opened up about Morant. When Garnett asked Pierce to name a player whom he wishes to break out in the upcoming season. The Celtics legend named the Grizzlies star without any hesitation. Moreover, he reasoned with the choice behind picking Morant. He said, “[Morant]is one of the top 10, top 15 players in the world… I’m looking for him to reestablish who he is on and off the court because I think he got the most to show and the most to prove.
Meanwhile, Garnett wasn’t happy about the response as he felt that Morant has already established himself as a better player.

Even though Morant is set to miss out on the initial 25 games, the Grizzlies look great on paper.
What’s on the cards for the Grizzlies?
As mentioned earlier, the Memphis side will Morant for 25 games, but the team looks lethal on paper without him. The team’s front office recently added Marcus Smart and Derrick Rose to the side. The two stars may strongly determine the proceedings of the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
