Monday’s game between the Boston Celtics and the Indiana Pacers ended in controversy. And it looks like the Celtics team has still not gotten over the devastating loss. It all began when Jaylen Brown was awarded two free throws with just 4 seconds remaining in a tied game. But the foul by Buddy Hield on the Celtics guard was overturned by the officials after a review taken by the Pacers. The Celtics went on to lose the game 133-131.

Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla threw subtle shade at the referees by using an iconic scene from a Ben Affleck and Jon Hamm starrer film.

Joe Mazzulla was visibly frustrated by the officials’ decision in the final seconds of the Pacers vs. Celtics game. In the closing minutes of his press conference, Mazzulla went a different route to take an indirect shot at the referees for their controversial Jaylen Brown call. He mentioned his favorite movie, “The Town” and revealed his favorite scene from the iconic crime thriller. “My favorite one is Doug MacRay is getting ready to leave town, and he skips by the FBI’s car and leaves a nice, well-thought-out handwritten note underneath the antennae and then gets out of town. That’s my favorite scene.” Mazzulla said. The message by MacRay in the film said, “Go fu*k yourself.”

Maybe Mazzulla wanted that message to reach officials like Ben Affleck’s character left it for the FBI. Apart from Mazzulla, Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum also expressed his frustration about the controversial finish on X.

Tatum reacted to the NBA’s L2M report on the final plays of the game, calling it “BS”.

The referees made multiple wrong decisions during the Celtics-Pacers game

According to the L2M report by the NBA, the overturned call on the Jaylen Brown foul was correct. So, the officials eventually got that call right despite the backlash from the Celtics team and fans. But there were two crucial calls that the officials got wrong. The L2M report revealed that the officials missed a screen foul on Pacers Center Myles Turner with only 2 seconds left in the game. The shooting foul called on Kristaps Porziņģis for blocking Bennedict Mathurin’s shot in the last second was also a wrong call by the officials.

Boston did not have any reviews left to challenge the call. These two missed calls changed the game for the Celtics, resulting in their loss. The Celtics will face the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight and look to bounce back from the heartbreaking loss against the Pacers.
