When the Cavs abruptly fired JB Bickerstaff last year despite a solid run to the Conference Semis, everyone was a bit surprised. But it all started making sense as the season progressed. That’s because Kenny Atkinson came in as the new head coach and elevated the team to a whole new level, leading them to the top seed in the East with 64 wins. Now, it’s time for the Cleveland franchise to carry this momentum to the playoffs. And their journey begins this Sunday.

Well, their opponents for the first-round series are yet to be determined as the Play-In tournament is only halfway done. With last night’s blowout win against the Hawks, the Magic have clinched the seventh seed. Now, the Atlanta team will face the winner of tonight’s Bulls vs Heat clash on Friday to determine who will fill East’s final playoff spot. Friday’s winner will bag the eighth seed and face the Cavs in the opening round. Wondering when and where you can watch Donovan Mitchell and Co. in action? Don’t worry–we have got you covered.

Here are all the key details of the Cavs’ first-round schedule:

Of course, the Cavs being the top seed will have the home-court advantage. That means four of the seven potential games will be played in Cleveland, including the first two, fifth, and seventh at the Rocket Arena. TNT will broadcast the first and third game, whereas Game 2 will air on NBATV. The broadcasting details and starting time of the final four games are yet to be declared depending on how long the series extends.

Obviously, the Cavs fans would be hoping to end things fast with an easy sweep so that their team gets ample rest for the next round. Meanwhile, Atkinson is also ready for the challenge.

Kenny Atkinson “confident” heading into playoffs as he believes Cavs have “got it all” to win

Although their opponents are yet to be determined, Atkinson has complete faith in his squad to come out on top. “I feel good. I trust our body of work. Has it been perfect this last part, post All-Star? I do think there has been a little bit of a malaise, a little bit of slippage. But I’m very confident going into the playoffs with this group.” He recently told to media.

His confidence is justified because the Cavs have been miles ahead of everyone else in the Conference all year. They are one of the only three teams to cross sixty wins this season. Moreover, they have no shortage of talent. Even the head coach acknowledged it, “The talent level is obvious… As far as talent, chemistry, deep bench, we’ve got it all. So, it’s really going to be the mental, to believe we can go to that next level.”

What’s your perspective on:

With 64 wins, are the Cavs the real deal, or will they crumble under playoff pressure?

Well, they have a highly experienced leader in Donovan Mitchell, who has been on fire all year, averaging 24 points and five assists. They also have a DPOY contender in Evan Mobley. Then, there are Jarrett Allen and Darius Garland, plus a deep bench.

On paper, the Cavs seem like perfect title contenders. And Atkinson knows it will all come down to their belief, “Now, do they have the belief at a championship level? Do you really believe you can beat Boston? Do you really believe you can beat Indiana? Do you really believe you can be a conference finalist? That’s a first step. We can only answer that when we’re faced with it.” We will find out soon as the Cavs play their first playoff game on Sunday. Are you excited?
