The Brooklyn Nets recently faced off against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Currently 3 in the Eastern Conference, the Cavs were looking to maintain their momentum and secure a spot in the playoffs. Point guard Darius Garland pulled off a commendable performance, securing 14 points, 1 rebound, and 5 assists during the game. While other players like Georges Niang and Jarrett Allen led the offensive charge impressively, the Cavaliers’ defense started to falter in the second half and they ended up losing the game by a score of 120-101.
In the aftermath of the game, reports started to pull in that Darius Garland seemed to be facing an issue with his left wrist/forearm. The same was confirmed by a social media update a few minutes ago by NBA reporter Chris Foder. According to him, “Darius Garland had his left wrist/forearm wrapped in ice in the locker room after the game. He doesn’t know exactly what he did. But it was hurting afterward.”
In a team already plagued by injuries, Garland’s supposed injury could prove to be an obstacle that would be difficult for them to overcome.

The Cavaliers already had players like Donovan Mitchell, Evan Moeby and Max Straus absent from the recent matchup as each of them is recovering from a separate injury. Their absence was quite noticeable during the recent loss. Add a fourth player to the benches, and it would be hard for the team to continue securing their spot on the points table.

How has Darius Garland been performing this season?
In his fifth season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Darius Garland is coming off as one of the most dominant players of the team. While his average score of 18.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 6.3 assists seemed to have dropped from his previous seasons, he continues to be amongst the leading scorers. Fans have been seeing an improvement in his gameplay style quite frequently this season. An example of the same occurred during a faceoff against the Warriors back in November 2023, when the player successfully scored 24 points in 30 minutes.
Garland’s recent wrist issue is not the first time he has dealt with an injury this season. He was forced to miss a few games during the early part of the season after developing a hamstring injury. Later on, a collision with Kristaps Porzingis resulted in a jaw injury that benched the 24-year-old for an additional few weeks. Despite so much disruption, the player managed to be as efficient as he could.
