The Netflix show Starting 5 became an instant hit earlier this year, giving basketball fans a fascinating look behind the scenes with their favorite NBA stars. Now, the show is returning for another season with some big names—but perhaps most notably, a player known for keeping his personal life under wraps: Kevin Durant.
Recently, Durant playfully dodged the topic when asked by Kay Adams on Up & Adams about joining the second season. When Kay questioned why he wasn’t on the show, Durant smirked, replying, “I dunno how much fun it would be, so I don’t know what that’s like, so I don’t know if I’d hop on that.” He hinted that having cameras follow him all day might not be his style. However, insider Shams Charania later revealed that Durant is indeed set to feature in the new season alongside other NBA stars.

Unlike the players featured in season one, Kevin Durant has a different approach to Starting 5. When called a “private” person and asked how much of his life he’s going to “reveal,” KD said, Imma keep it at basketball, man. They gonna see how I operate in the space of NBA more so than my personal life. You gonna get a couple of tidbits here and there, but for the most part, you’re gonna see how I approach the game and the season.” True to form, Durant is focused on giving fans an authentic view of his life as an athlete, emphasizing his dedication to the game.
Durant also hopes to offer viewers insight into the mental challenges of a season, stating, “I’m excited for them to see the mindset of an NBA player—the in-depth look at athletes and what they go through behind the scenes.” Unlike stars like LeBron James or Jayson Tatum, who openly share glimpses into their personal lives, Durant’s presence on the show is primarily for core basketball fans, aiming to highlight the grit and strategy that shape his journey through the season.
Which stars are part of season 2 of ‘Starting 5’ and what could the season look like?
The first season featured LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, and Anthony Edwards, showcasing a good mix of seasoned veterans and future superstars. The show quickly became a global hit, giving fans a unique, behind-the-scenes look into the lives of their favorite NBA stars. Season two is expected to follow a similar approach in its selection of players.
