“You don’t have anything to worry about. You’re a priority here” Amidst Klay Thompson’s exit, Warriors owner Joe Lacob had to personally tell Brandin Podziemski that he is too important for the franchise to be traded away. After all, within the span of just his rookie season, the 21-year-old had highlighted feats of his scoring prowess at a level that even caused Steve Kerr to give him more minutes over Klay. His 2024 pre-season and regular-season debut may not have gone well, but the Warriors continue to prioritize their young player. After all, who else could veterans like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green depend on to teach them new things?

Earlier today, during the matchup between the Warriors and the Utah Jazz, NBA reporter Anthony Slater highlighted the Bay Area players goofing around during the final timeout period. As Stephen Curry came across Draymond Green, the duo reportedly began discussing and trying to figure out how Brandin Podziemski was able to deliver his memorable right-hand hook shot just a couple of minutes ago. From figuring out the angle of defense to how the young star turned to drop the ball in, the duo’s curiosity showed that one can never be too old to learn new things about the sport to which they have devoted a majority of their life.

There may have been initially some doubt over how the locker room mood for the Warriors would be post Klay Thompson’s exit. After all, not only had the shooting guard/small forward been with the franchise for 13 years, but he had also formed a close bond with every teammate who came and went or stayed with the franchise during that time period. His role in assisting Stephen Curry on the offensive front even earned the duo the Moniker of ‘Splash Brothers’. Fortunately, losing one key player has not caused Curry or Green to be indifferent towards their older teammates, nor their new ones.

One social media user decided to react to Curry and Green’s recent actions by sending flowers to the young star. In fact, the individual went so far as to state, No worries. Brandin is next Steph in the making.”

Being point guards, the veteran and the young player do share some similarities in their playing style. While not shooting as many threes as the All-Time Three-Point Leader, Podziemski does attempt to maintain a good shooting average, having made 38.5% of the far-away shots during the 2023-24 season. The same dropped during the preseason to 36.8%. The 21-year-old can also proudly call himself the player who had the most assists during a game in his rookie season, breaking the earlier record set by Curry back in April 2010. Having dubbed Podziemski as his “annoying little brother”, Curry has also taken it upon himself to train the young Dub during the early stages of his NBA career.

Instead of focusing on Brandin, one individual shared his appreciation of Stephen Curry’s goofiness. Not being the first time that the player has made good use of the free time he gets, the commenter wrote My goat is enjoying his fourth quarter, accompanied by a laughing emoji. The same feeling was felt by another individual, who wrote, There will never be another haha love this guy.”
