Carmelo Anthony's advice to Curry: Is it the best guidance for a modern NBA star?

Why waste time battling the odds when one can enjoy an irreplicable talent like Stephen Curry? At 36, the Baby Face Assassin took part in his maiden Olympics and didn’t disappoint. His awe-inspiring three-point stroke single-handedly changed the game forever. But now that he is probably into his final years, the time to appreciate his impact keeps waning. Carmelo Anthony doesn’t want to let debates waste the joy he can experience from watching Curry’s elegance.

While on his podcast, Curry’s sensational gold medal game echoed around the room. It opened the GOAT point guard conversation, one that sees the Warriors ace usually battle against the ever-smiling Magic Johnson. Instead of putting a crown on one of them, Melo would rather appreciate the exposure Curry has brought to basketball and grasp what could be some of his final steps in the realm of basketball.

“He’s the greatest shooter I’ve ever seen. And he’s just a hell of a player. Like he’s a great player. Like fuck best shooter, fuck best point. He’s the greatest. He’s one of the greatest players that ever graced his game. And I don’t think we probably will ever see this again. So we better, you know, let’s appreciate this window of what we have with Steph,” he said on his podcast.

It’s a sad reality to address, but one that every Curry stan is helpless against. In his 14 years of entertaining service to the game, Curry has achieved accolades that only a handful of players share. GOAT debates and other conversations have an infinite lifespan. But what Stephen Curry brings every time he steps on the floor will one day perish.

Conversations can be held at any point. The Chef has dug a legacy that will live on long after he retires. So maybe Carmelo Anthony is right. Instead of ranking Stephen Curry and comparing his decorated resume with other icons, it is paramount to absorb the brief time that remains in his career. After that, there is ample time and opportunity for debating.

Carmelo Anthony wouldn’t want to see Stephen Curry leave the Bay

Melo isn’t devoting his time to fighting a war for Stephen Curry. But while he wants to appreciate the years Curry has left, the Knicks legend wants it to be in the Bay. In January, when fielding the Chef’s comments about his future, Melo only had one request. Viewing the four-time champion as Tim Duncan, he pushed him to stay in the Bay unless he had an opportunity to go “home”.

Have an interesting take?

“I don’t wanna see him in another jersey. He’s like Tim Duncan. Unless he goes back to Charlotte, that’s home…Finish it out, Steph unless you go back to Charlotte. I really don’t know those dynamics to speak on but I do know that you got the Bay Area lit. Stay out there. Get your statue” Melo said.

The Golden State Warriors have lost some key components on their roster that make it difficult to compete for a championship. Being a bona fide competitor, winning is among the priorities for Curry. It becomes more urgent when considering he is still capable of being the focal point of a high-octane offense and being the championship talisman for any side in the NBA.

At the same time, what he has cultivated in the Bay goes far beyond the game. His kids and family have evolved in San Francisco, and he too has become a beacon of empowerment for the community. It’s a strong reason to want to stay. However, if Curry’s joy is akin to winning titles, he might pull the plug on the Warriors operation if the franchise can’t satisfy his goals.
