LeBron James awkward with a TikTok star—Is he losing touch with the younger generation?

Royalty remains regardless of the location! And that’s LeBron James. The Lakers superstar carries the majestic aura wherever he goes. It doesn’t necessarily mean basketball. Especially for the people who meet him for the first time, he leaves an immediate impact on them. And that’s what the viral standup comedian Jiaoying Summers felt, as she featured alongside the big man in a podcast. However, her story also indirectly makes a strong case against the popular narrative dragging along with the superstar.

It’s not that often we see King James featured in his podcast show ‘The Shop’. While the hooper made a surprise appearance, the comedian brought the humor, after she recently narrated her awkward first meet with the superstar. The comedian, who is also a viral TikTok star, said, “I can’t talk to him when I see him. I was just so shocked. He’s so regal.”

“First of all, he is so tall. I don’t have my Tiger balm, my neck hurts.” However, before that, she also revealed how LeBron James surprised her with a certain heartfelt gesture. Summers added on the All Good Things Podcast, “Andre showed LeBron my work and stuff and he remember. When I met him, he already knew my joke, my big small joke, he was doing that joke… I’m like oh my God… I couldn’t believe it.”

Importantly, this recollection not only reflected his generous gesture but also broke a narrative that constantly marred his image. In the popular meme culture, trollers accuse James of often lying or capping for pretending to know things. But in Summers’ case, the Laker actually knew her joke.

Times when LeBron James was caught off-guard and his capping narrative

This is something that often shows up on everyone’s X and Instagram feeds with the title ‘LeBron James lying for absolutely no reason.’ While there’s no actual evidence and proof to claim that the superstar was lying, the trollers have really put up a convincing list. Here are two such instances.

In a press conference ahead of one of the NBA Finals with the Cleveland Cavaliers, a reporter put Bron on the spot. While James had claimed that he watched the Godfather movie several times, a reporter asked him to reveal his favorite scene or dialogue from the movie. Unfortunately, he couldn’t recollect any of them. When the reporter further insisted, James said, “Each movie is 9 hours long. What do you want me to do?” Well, the reporter at least thought he made an offer that James couldn’t refuse.

In another instance, another reporter once again put King James on the spot. Looking at the hooper, holding on to ‘Malcolm X’s biography’, asked him to reveal his biggest takeaway from the book. The 4x NBA Champ, who revealed that he started reading the book only two days ago, after a long thought, said, “Very, very, very smart man.” Yes, that was the ‘biggest’ one.

Another bizarre situation was when Marcus Rashford shared the camera with LeBron James and revealed an inspiring quote by one of his childhood coaches. “He used to say ‘Put yourself in situations where you not comfortable,'” the Manchester United striker said. To which the Laker immediately replied in the very next second, “Oh yeah! That’s my favorite saying!”

Well, there are many such instances of LeBron James attempting to seem the sharpest and smartest in the room. Nevertheless, the legend has indirectly chopped the narrative of lying about anything and everything after Jiaoying Summers’ story.
