Can the Warriors survive without Stephen Curry, or is he the heart and soul of the team?

How do you think star athletes prepare themselves for a season year after year? Well, for some, it may be the drive to win a championship. There may be players who are looking to improve their craft and prove themselves for the upcoming season. However, for veterans, the drive to prepare for each season wouldn’t differ much from others. Stephen Curry, 36, recently signed a one-year extension with the Warriors worth $62 million. Does this mean Curry will call it a career in the summer of 2027?

Now, the Chef may not have a lot of time left in the NBA. However, he certainly has a lot left in the tank. For Steph, his motivation to get back in the lab, year after year, is simple. “You can’t play this game for life, but the fact that being with the Warriors for this long and championship window that we’ve had, you want to keep that open for as long as possible,” Curry said. Entering his 16th year, Steph isn’t fazed by any criticism, as the Baby-Faced Assasin is still hopeful of his fifth title run.

Of course, this won’t come easy, given the Dubs’ roster for the upcoming season. But Curry likes the challenge which is also his motivation to work even harder to get back in the training camp. All good things come to an end. There will come a day when the greatest shooter of all time will call it a career. While the Chef recently shared his retirement plans, as he looks forward to expanding his production company,  Unanimous Media.

Not only that, but Steph’s Mr. Throwback has also garnered quite some attention lately. Curry still has about three years left and sorting out the post-retirement is nothing but a smart business decision. Moreover, the rumors around LeBron James and Curry possibly teaming up haven’t yet dissolved in other various talks. In fact, if this ever becomes a reality, it will be in none other than Golden State.

Well, the possibility almost seems to have faded after Steph’s $62 million extension. However, James will be a free agent in the summer of 2026 and can look to finish things off alongside Steph in San Fransisco. Moreover, the two stars announcing their last year together will break the NBA community. The hypothetical season would go down in history books as one of the most awaited ones. This is particularly true as LeBron and Curry have gone back and forth for a long time.

From four Finals matchups to facing in the West, the duo held the best rivalry of the modern era. But this can only be topped off by teaming up at least once before the two hang their shoes. We’ve seen them in All-Star games and quite recently in the Olympics. It is safe to say that this duo is dominant in multiple ways. It will be interesting to see if the Warriors plan on landing James in the Bay Area in the future.
