Is Immanuel Quickley’s mother okay? The question had been raised by the NBA world ever since it was revealed that the Toronto Raptors player’s parent was caught up in a recent school sho-ting. Being the assistant principal at the Joppatowne High School, concerns were raised after reports that the sho-ting reportedly initiated by a fellow student had resulted in the d-ath of one of his classmates. Fortunately, amidst the terrible tragedy, the NBA player got the news that brought the most relief that a human being may experience.
Continuing to share updates about the shooting through his official Instagram account, Immanuel Quickley first calmed anyone who was as worried as him about the update regarding his mother. Along a black backdrop, the point guard broke the news about the incident through a caption before adding, “You really just never know. Thank God he protected her.” As of now, Nitrease Quickley has not given any statement about her experience, nor has the player himself provided any future updates. Despite this, fans who had been relieved at the good news didn’t choose to stay quiet and instead made their reaction.

The recent incident at Joppatowne High School marks the 46 school sho-ting that has taken place in the US just this year. It also comes just a few days after another high school student had reportedly opened fi-ed at a Georgia High School that resulted in the d-ath of four people. This compelled one social media user to have difficulty even placing himself in the NBA player’s shoes, while also asking how long these sho-tings will continue to take place.
I can’t even imagine. When is enough enough?

What’s your perspective on:
Can Immanuel Quickley turn this emotional ordeal into a driving force for his NBA career?
Have an interesting take?
Another social media user followed the same path as the above commenter, raising the issue of the unprecedented number of sho-tings. With such incidents usually accumulating the number of d-aths in the double digits, it was good that the situation over at Joppatowne High School did not escalate to such. Unfortunately, even a single d-ath is a tragedy, and the individual wanted everyone else to not be so “desensitized”.
I had to look this up bc I didn’t see anything about this It’s insane that we’ve gotten to this point. It’s so common that people have become desensitized to it. We expect it.
It’s no longer breaking news when only “one” kid gets shot?
This needs to stop.

One individual straightaway called out for the ban on g-ns, which would help in preventing the school sho-tings that claimed the lives of 130 people in 30 separate incidents. Unfortunately, due to the ‘right to bear arms’ issue listed under the Second Amendment of the US Constitution, bringing a halt to the distribution of weapons is not an easy road. Reportedly classified as ‘G-n Politics’, the question of the best way to protect people from g-n violence has become a polarizing issue, preventing any significant banning measures from taking place yet.
Holy crap😭😭 Ban guns gosh bro

While school sho-tings are an issue that has reportedly prevailed in America for quite some time now, this is the first time that any NBA player has been so closely associated with it. Another member of the NBA fraternity who Immanuel Quickley can relate to is Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr. After all, his voice in regard to g-n violence has been the strongest among many.
Steve Kerr made an emotional plea in the aftermath of the Texas School shooting: “When are we going to do something?”
Back in 2022, a major incident rocked America after 21 people were kil-ed in a sho-ting over at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Steve Kerr, who was visiting Texas along with the rest of the Warriors squad for a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, was especially shook. Even as his squad was just one win away from making it to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2019, the head coach did not choose to devote much time to basketball during a postgame press conference.
“Any basketball questions don’t matter,” said Kerr after Game 4 of the Conference Finals. “Since we’ve left sho-taround, 14 children were kil-ed… and a teacher. In the last 10 days, we’ve had elderly Black people kil-ed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we’ve had Asian churchgoers kil-ed in Southern California. Now we have children mur-ered at school. When are we going to do something?”

Having lost his own father to an assassination attempt by two g-nmen in Beirut, Lebanon, G-n Violence has been a personal issue for the Warriors coach. From taking the issue all the way to the White House to President Joe Biden to putting aside basketball to discuss the Uvalde Sho-ting, Kerr continues to display a passion for bringing these unnecessary incidents to an end.
