The Denver Nuggets are off to a blockbuster start this season, with Joker leading the franchise. With seven games won out of a total of eight, the Nuggets are indeed maintaining the momentum of the past season. The loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, however, gave the franchise a setback.

Recovering from that loss, the Nuggets stood back up, registering a three-game winning streak with the latest win against the Pelicans. However, all is not well with the franchise. With a shortage in the point guard position, the team has to work on a new strategy to tackle the Warriors tonight.

Jamal Murray is down with a hamstring strain

The point guard was in the lineup after the changes and entered the second quarter while playing against the Chicago Bulls last Saturday. However, when the ball went out of play, Jamal Murray was subbed off and was seen limping into the tunnel. Minutes later, it came to light that the player had sustained a right hamstring injury.

Although the Nuggets are planning to replace Murray with the capable gameplay of Reggie Jackson, the player is down for the rest of November. Right now, Nikola Jokic and Co. have to cover up the point guard situation to counter Stephen Curry and sixth man Chris Paul for all that matters. The recent insight by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN informs the NBA of a probable three-to-four-week rest. With the player not able to play until December, it’s not good news for Nikola Jokic.

In a post-game media interaction, Nikola Jokic admitted that “winning is fun and losing sucks.” Followed by the recent injury, the “not cocky but greedy” aspirations of the Joker seem to take a back seat. Well, the Denver Nuggets are indeed being very cautious about the injury because “having recurring hamstring injuries or soft tissue injuries, they can linger and become even worse.” With this narrative set in stone, the Joker has to sustain his greedy ambitions with another point guard from the franchise.

This is the second injury in a row for the point guard. However, a proper three- to four-week rest might give the player some time to reset and get back up.

Jamal Murray-less Nuggets vs. the New Orleans Pelicans

This season started brightly for Jamal Murray, with him being a constant in the starting five in all seven games. However, the New Orleans Pelicans couldn’t witness the hard throws of the point guard this Wednesday. The lack of defensive coverage led the Pelicans to score a massive lead in the second quarter. However, the Nuggets covered up their lackluster defense and took charge again in the second half.

While Jokic registered a 35-point score, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists, Michael Porter Jr. followed with 22 points. Along with that, 15 points each registered by Aaron Gordon and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope made the game a must-watch. While the Nuggets handled the defense of Zion Williamson and Jordan Hawkins with relative ease, will Steph Curry expose their defensive woes in their next game?
