The Semi-Finals for the FIBA World Cup 2023 are set. The United States of America will take on Germany in a much-hyped matchup. On the other hand, fan favorites Canada will take on European giants Serbia in the next semi-final round. The Canadians faced a huge test in the quarter-finals as they faced Slovenia and Luka Doncic. NBA All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his teammate, RJ Barret, had a brilliant outing.

Interestingly, Barret had a brilliant performance in his previous appearance for Canada in 2017. He led his country to a major milestone which established him as a huge prospect.

RJ Barret had a sensational under-19 tournament

17-year-old RJ Barret burst onto the scene 6 years ago. He was given an enormous opportunity as they selected the youngster for the Canadian National Team. Canada took on Italy in the under-19 FIBA World Cup Finals of 2017 in Egypt. They were brilliant in the whole tournament, with Barret putting on the performance of a lifetime. He averaged 21.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists. Canada beat heavyweights like Spain, France, and the United States of America on their way to the Finals.

 

 

Interestingly, the USA roster had some familiar names as well. Cameron Reddish, PJ Washington, and Immanuel Quickley were integral players for the USA.

Barrett has impressed so far

Canada has had a great performance in the FIBA World Cup 2023 so far. An impressive team consisting of NBA stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Barrett, and Dillon Brooks has led them to the Semi-Finals.

Barret has played 6 games so far. Starting in every game, the Knicks star has played an average of 29 minutes. Moreover, he averages 14.7 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
