In her rookie year with the Los Angeles Sparks, Cameron Brink has already earned the respect of the MVPs. This season was going well for the star rookie as she averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists over 15 games. However, things turned out to be messier at the end as she tore her ACL while playing against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. Moreover, the star rookie was on the national 3×3 roster for the Paris Olympics. Brink just lost an important opportunity to represent her nation. In such tough times, various legendary athletes like Lindsey Vonn and Coco Gauff, among others, came forward to show their support for the WNBA player.

Adding to the list, Steph Curry‘s mom and Brink’s godmother, Sonya Curry, also blessed the athlete with her words posting on Instagram with the caption, “We may fall down, but we always get up! God got you!!!!” Here, Brink’s godmother was referencing a verse from the holy Bible. Such a sermonising message from her godmother made Cameroon Brink’s real mom, Michelle Bain-Brink, emotional as she commented, “She will need your healing hands🥹😍😍”.

Apparently, Michelle and Sonya are best friends, and Sonya has faced a fair share of troubles throughout her life. While appearing on the Jemele Hill is Unbothered podcast two years ago, Sonya mentioned how she had an abortion before having her three children. Therefore, Cameroon Brink’s mom sought help from the Godmother herself to be the guiding light of the WNBA rookie in these tough times.

It is “hard to fathom” for Cameron Brink to be out of the Olympics

Getting a place on the Olympics roster in the debut season itself is like a dream for the athletes. Moreover, the 6ft 4in Sparks player made it smooth and got everything under control. But one mishap brought about major issues. Brink remains hopeful for the future. “This is hard to fathom, but I know it will only make me stronger, “ the 22-year-old posted on Instagram regarding her injury.

The ACL tear is no longer a career killer with new methods of surgical techniques. However, the recovery time is too high and sometimes derails the flow of the pro athletes. Yet Brink was optimistic about it, as she mentioned that it was just a ‘see you later’ moment. Even Team USA expressed their concern and wishes for Brink after the injury announcement. “Our thoughts are with Cameron as we wish her a speedy recovery. …We hope to see Cam back on the court and representing the red, white and blue soon, “ USA Basketball wished for Cameron in a statement.

Still, it is a great loss for Cameron Brink, and Team USA has to work on finding her replacement on the Olympic team. Who do you think can fill Brink’s position?
