Tonight, Dillon Brooks had hijacked the TD Garden, and no one had any response. The 29-year-old Houston Rockets forward was on fire, draining buckets for fun. Three quarters into the game, he had surpassed his career-high three-pointers in a game, sinking 8 clean ones. Riding high on confidence, ‘Dillon Villain’ didn’t forget to bring his usual antics on the court. After successfully selling a flop against Jayson Tatum, he engaged in a borderline ugly act, leaving the Boston fans raging.
Coming into the game, the H-Town had defeated the Cavaliers twice in a row. Imagine the boost in morale in their dressing room! More importantly, it reflected on their game tonight. Especially given Brooks was on a mission right from the tip-off. However, the Celtics are still the defending champs. They orchestrated a comeback. Jayson Tatum, who had a scoring slump in the first half, caught fire in the third quarter.
The superstar dropped 15 of 19 points in the third quarter alone. This surge indeed had the Rockets worried. But Dillon Brooks has his ways to respond. Halfway through the third quarter, Brooks, chasing red-hot Tatum in the perimeter, flopped and forced a turnover. Following the whistle, he was on the floor, pulling out questionable dance moves.

Guess what? The refs missed the flop as well as his on-court antics, triggering a wildfire reaction on the internet. Well, the trick seemed to have worked, as Jayson Tatum’s offense again went into a slump in the last quarter. Let’s have a look at how the fans have received this situation.
Boston fans rage over NBA refs’ blunder miss
Well, this isn’t the first time when refs were blamed for mediocrity. This season has witnessed many such occasions where the refs have continued to surprise the NBA world with their calls. Not the good kind, either! One of the notable ones came during the Warriors-Rockets game in the NBA Cup quarter-finals.
With 10-odd seconds left, the Dubs led the game. Steph had the opportunity to seal the game with a three-pointer. When he missed it, Kuminga and Jalen Green dove forward to collect the ball, and the ref called a loose ball foul on JK. What do you think happened next?
The Rockets won the game with the 2 FTs. Similarly, tonight, the refs missed out on a clear flop. A fan reacting to it, wrote, “Falling for that should get a ref fired but knowing Adam Silver he’ll give them a raise.” Not only did the fan take a dig at the ref, but at the NBA Commissioner, as well.

Another fan, reading the pattern, went on to boldly write, “Ref is born and raised in Houston lol.” Well, the refs’ misjudgment has favored other teams as well, but we have two examples favoring the Rockets here. So, it is what it is.
While many fans forgot about Brooks’ obscene gesture after the flop, this fan decoded the meaning behind the act. The fan wrote, “Mocking how dumb nba refs are.” Well, the fan has a point, as the refs have clearly missed the opportunity to give a tech on that gesture.
Adding up to the debate, this next user suggested how the league must react to the missed call. Usually, the league decides on the fines and suspension much later. So, with the refs missing out on Brooks’ gesture, they suggested a fine, writing, “Should be 5K fine every air hump IMO.”

However, amid this chaos, a lone fan had something kind to tell about Brooks. They wrote, “everybody hates on this guy but he’s actually a good basketball player lol.” Well, no one can deny it now. The forward went on to produce a game-high 36 points with 10-three-pointers in the TD Garden arena with a close 114-112 win. However, at the same time, the refs might need to keep a check on his questionable plays and actions on the floor.
