The voices are loud. Silence seems like a far-fetched dream. Welcome to Dallas, where there’s anger for the one ‘wrongfully’ pushed away. Driving through the streets around the American Airlines Center, you’d feel like you’ve walked into a battleground. Placards, banners, posters, and messages for one man, and one alone. Nico Harrison.

Did he not see this coming before shaking hands with Rob Pelinka? Was this the best he could do to his 25-year-old Slovenian giant who took the team to the finals last season? Fans have too many questions, and the Dallas Mavericks GM has nothing but silence to offer. He’s tried to reason out his opinions with the die-hards.

But it’s not easy, Luka Doncic was more like the city’s son than just another player on the team. Thus when the once-in-a-generation talent turned into a Laker, there was nothing but outrage. And now, fans want Nico Harrison to step down. Or worse, fire the man, cancel his $16.7 million contract, and bring someone new. Or maybe, sell the team instead? These are the extreme protests and ideas, the Dallas community has to offer the owners of the organization.

Besides, Friday’s reports on Harrison receiving ‘death threats’ could add to the team’s concerns. But what’s more concerning here is the fact that the fans are angry, boycotting, and publicly humiliating the GM.

Is this good news? Well, does this look like one?

What’s your perspective on:

Did Nico Harrison just make the worst trade in Mavericks history by letting Luka Doncic go?

Have an interesting take?

Saturday morning for Nico Harrison seems like a nightmare as Dallas fans gather at AAC to protest

One trade move and everything changed for Nico Harrison. Who would’ve thought something like this, this public outrage would be so intense? Surely the GM didn’t see it coming through. Meanwhile, NBA insiders and other media reporters continue sharing images of fans spilling their hearts out for Luka Doncic. He was indeed the golden boy of the city.

Dallas Mavericks reporter, Noah Weber shared on X handle some photos of a fan holding placards. One of the protesting placards said: “This team is more than a business” Meanwhile, another placard read: “Hit ’em where it hurts. Boycott. Boycott. Boycott. Until they Fire Nico.” Now, this brings us to an important question: how many seats among the 19200 seats in AAC are going to be empty for Anthony Davis’ reported debut game vs. the Houston Rockets?

There are chants of “We Miss Luka” surrounding the AAC. If this isn’t concerning for Nico Harrison, then what is? Did he make a wrong decision here? Besides, the franchise will remember this episode of outrage from the fans for their beloved Luka. Meanwhile, another fan outside the arena addressed the overweight allegations and wrote a placard. It read: “‘Overweight’ ‘Injuries’ ‘Work Ethics’ ‘Attitude’ 25 y/o WCF MVP HAD US IN THE FINALS 7 MONTHS AGO.”

Undoubtedly, the front office’s “Luka is 270 pounds. His injuries are a problem,” narrative hasn’t been perceived in a positive light. How could the fans ever make peace with such allegations? How could they even make peace with the fact that the one who took the team into the finals 7 months ago is now a rival? And it only makes sense that Nico Harrison has been facing such complications and backlash since February 2. However, security threats are a major thing to worry about amidst supporters’ anger.
