“I’m proud of the way we’ve been able to establish a great culture here with the Timberwolves and I look forward to continuing to lead this organization and make our fans proud.” Following last year’s historic playoff run, Chris Finch had high hopes when he signed a multi-year contract extension. But the head coach has been under fire because of the team’s ongoing struggles. And even though Anthony Edwards and Co. defeated the Hawks tonight, Finch was on the receiving end of immense criticism from fans who want him fired!
Well, Chris did not seem very pleased with the win as he said post-game, “That’s a totally unacceptable second half of basketball.” Yes, the Minnesota franchise almost blew a seventeen-point lead as they got outscored by eleven points in the third quarter. Thankfully, the team returned to its senses in the final period and got the much-needed victory.
But it did put Finch’s decision-making in question. That’s because he refused to sub out Mike Conley in crunch time even though he was having an abysmal night, shooting one of nine from the field and missing all of his three-point attempts. Meanwhile, the head coach played rookie Rob Dillingham for only eleven minutes, even though he scored more points than Conley in far less time. Rob finished with 5 points and two rebounds.

Sure enough, Wolves fans were not happy.
NBA World deems Chris Finch a “Bad Coach” and claims Timberwolves will be “Smarter” without him
With the team barely surviving against the Hawks, fans slammed Finch on X as comments like “It’s games like this is why fans want Chris Finch fired” and “Chris Finch is a bad coach” began flooding in. Well, he has been on this job for four years and found rapid success. But the expectations have risen drastically after last season and fans want to see the Wolves contending for the title. However, they are stuck at the seventh seed in the West.

Moreover, netizens were not pleased with his decision to play Conley over Dillingham despite the veteran guard’s struggles, as one wrote “Chris Finch is such a joke. Conley is 1-9 tonight he’s been good on D but playing Rob 10 mins in this kind of game is fu*king ridiculous. Ant Also 6-20, like Rob is the only one on this team with a short a** leash.”
Yes, apart from Conley, Edwards also had a horrible shooting night, missing nine of his eleven deep-range attempts. And it’s a miracle that the Wolves won tonight.

It’s no surprise that leaving the rookie out while the team sputtered down the stretch didn’t sit well with fans, especially given Conley’s struggles and Edwards’ off-night. And it was a point this next fan also made sure to note with a warning. “Chris finch really kept Rob on the bench the whole 4th while the wolves scored a whopping 0 points the last 5 minutes of the game.. ridiculous. I think his days as the head coach is numbered..”

Another fuming fan even called the Timberwolves the “Worst IQ team” and yet another shared a similar sentiment saying, “They’ll be a smarter team when Chris Finch is no longer the HC.” Despite last year’s success and the massive extension, Finch could get fired if the team fails this season.
Obviously, head coaches are usually the primary scapegoats after a failed season. So, Finch needs to coach like he has a chip on his shoulder, and get the Wolves out of this slump and back to title contention. Do you think he can do it?
