An inefficient outside shooter in today’s modern NBA is a fan favorite, whereas the greatest shooter of all time isn’t? The league just released the first NBA All-Star voting for the 2025 All-Star Game. They’re flipping the script for the 2025 edition. Gone is the old two-team format, replaced by a four-team tournament. Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith will be picking the teams, but they’ll also have fresh competition. The Rising Stars Challenge winners, advised by WNBA legend Candace Parker, will join the mix.
Fan voting will have a huge say in who makes the cut, representing 50% of the final decision. The rest is up to a media panel and current NBA players, each contributing 25%.
Steph Curry, the Warriors superstar, is currently sitting in third place for the Western Conference guards voting. Read that again. He’s trailing Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have racked up 870,071 and 1.05 million votes, respectively. It’s kind of wild to see these guard rankings shake out, right?

Curry, always a fan favorite, has some serious competition this time around, there’s no denying that. The Dub Nation on X, though, is calling on fans across the globe to get the Splash Bro the top spot.
Fans want Steph Curry to be where he belongs, as they push others to vote for legend in the NBA All-Star Voting
One fan wrote, “Pathetic. Warriors fans you should be ashamed. Vote Steph.. all star is in his house and yall not going to make sure he’s a starter?” Curry has been the face of the Warriors for years, leading them to multiple championships, and now the All-Star Game is literally in his house, at the Chase Center… For a Bay loyal to feel like the Warriors’ fanbase should be doing more to secure his starting spot is a reminder of how crucial the Splash Bro has been to this era of NBA basketball.
Another fan wrote, “It’s not all on GS fans. There are nba fans that vote players and not teams. He’s got to play better”. There’s definitely some truth to it. While Warriors fans play a huge role in All-Star voting, this goes beyond just one fanbase. His shooting efficiency, particularly from the three-point line (40.1%), is down compared to his usual alien standards.
In fact, it’s clear that he’s having an off year in some areas, particularly his shooting efficiency.
“Fans get our goat to the All-Star as a starter now,” wrote a netizen. In the past, Curry’s popularity would’ve almost automatically cemented him as a starter, but with the change in the league’s landscape and the rise of new stars, it’s a bit of a wake-up call.
It’s a reminder that while Stephen Curry has been an incredible talent, his spot in the starting lineup isn’t guaranteed just because he’s had a legendary career. Steve Kerr may still be centering his shooting-based tactic around the legend but clearly, a portion of the hoops community has either aged and stopped watching, or the youngest influx of viewers don’t value the sharpshooter as much.

The reaction, “He is not playing at an All-Star starter level. Glad the GS fans are keeping it real,” is a bold but honest take that sheds light on the reality of Curry’s performance this season. It’s refreshing that some Warriors fans are holding their aging talisman accountable, acknowledging that he hasn’t been playing at the level that would guarantee him a starting spot with immunity.
He is not pllaying at an all star starter level. Glad the GS fans are keeping it real.

Another fan did not take the call to get Steph more votes so that he could start kindly. “LOL, you want to gaslight your fans when the top brass of your organization and Head Coach does not care???” they wrote. If Steve Kerr and Co. aren’t holding Curry to the highest standards or supporting his push to be an All-Star starter, through strategic efforts, fans have every right to feel frustrated.
The higher-ups (from management to the coaching staff) might not be as invested in Curry’s All-Star status—or perhaps the fanbase’s concerns—as they should be. Where are you on this entire NBA All-Star Game ‘reform’? Drop your thoughts below.
