The Jimmy Butler saga has finally come to an end. He has left yet another franchise by burning down all bridges. The Bulls sent him packing after he called out his teammates’ effort and clashed with Fred Hoiberg. Things didn’t get any smoother in Minnesota—his fiery personality didn’t sit well with Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, leading to another trade. Then came Philly, where the front office had a choice to make: Butler or Tobias Harris. They went with Harris, and JB wasted no time taking his talents to Miami.

After a string of suspensions, Butler is heading out of Miami. Are we surprised? Probably not. It all began with that jaw-dropping press conference, where he dropped the bomb that he’d lost his joy for the game… He straight-up said he didn’t believe he could find it again in Miami. In a positive update, however, you won’t have to look at his hair anymore to find out where he’s headed.

The Miami Heat are reportedly trading their 6x All-Star to the Golden State Warriors. In exchange, the Bay will bid adieu to Andrew Wiggins (Heat), Dennis Schroder (Jazz), Kyle Anderson (Heat), and a protected first-round pick (Heat), per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Jimmy Butler is officially locked in with the Golden State Warriors, inking a 2-year, $121 million extension that will keep him through 2026-27. As reported by Shams and Brian Windhorst of ESPN, Jimmy is forgoing his 2025-26 player option to secure this new deal.

The Warriors are in Salt Lake City as this news comes out. According to Ron Kroichick, it’s an unusual vibe there right now. “Strange scene here in Salt Lake City, with Steve Kerr closing locker room for pregame meeting. Lots of grim-faced players.” The morale might be low as they’ll face the Jazz soon after Kerr’s talk. And Schroder might want to swap jerseys now because he heading to Utah.

While that was for the players, let’s see what the fans say. Dub Nation has been very vocal about getting help for Stephen Curry for the past few weeks. And now that the Warriors have made a trade, the fans are furious.

Warriors fans feel the front office massively “overpaid” for an “old” Jimmy Butler…

One fan tweeted, “Gave up way too much for an old a– jimmy butler lmaooo”. Butler, as great as he is, is 35 years old, and his performance has been a rollercoaster recently. Poor- this season, hands down, by his self-set standards. Sure, he’s a clutch postseason beast, but at this point in his career, is he really worth giving up so much for?

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Warriors just gamble their future on a 35-year-old Jimmy Butler?

Have an interesting take?

The Splash Bro is making almost $56 million this season; is Butler worth more than Curry? Plus, they gave away beloved Wiggins.

“Sh–ty organization telling me we gave up 3 players AND A FIRST FOR AN OLD WASHED BUTLER😂😂😂✌️✌️✌️”, wrote another fan. For the Warriors, giving up key contributors like Wiggs, Schroder, and Anderson is a massive risk. In the offseason, they boldly held off any immediate moves. These players, particularly Wiggins, have been important to the Bay side’s success in recent seasons. Plus, the first-round pick is a valuable asset that could have helped the Warriors down the line or in another digestible trade.

Another fan was really furious. “Warriors massively overpayed. Butler s–ks and is a cancer to the team,” they tweeted. We’ve seen it in the past with his clashes in Chicago, Minnesota, and even Miami. While Butler’s fiery personality can fuel his success on the court, it’s also raised questions about how he meshes with teammates, especially when things aren’t going his way. We obviously don’t want to paint a bad picture around his name, but has the player done anyone a favor by exiting on such a tumultuous note?

And you know who else has a fiery personality? Draymond Green. It’ll be interesting to see how they gel together.

A netizen chimed in with, “He is not worth that much.” At the end of the day, paying a steep price for a player in his 30s—who’s had issues with chemistry in past stints—raises plenty of valid concerns. Sure, Butler’s playoff resume is stellar, but fans are right to question if the Warriors are truly getting their money’s worth. Heck, recent reports even hinted that Kerr and Curry were worried about JB’s fit in the locker room should Lacob consider a move. And here we are.

A similar scene with the Luka-AD trade. The Slovenian was touted to end his career in Dallas. He was even buying a new home worth $15 million! Shipping him – people will eventually come to terms with – but for an aging AD!? Why?

“Man ain’t nobody scared of that s–t lmfaooo, they just sent off half their roster for this scrub😭😭😭” This reaction is definitely a fiery one, but it’s not without reason. It’s clear that the Warriors have shifted focus from building around their core pieces to gambling on a player who’s known for his leadership but also for causing friction with teammates.

And let’s be honest—if Butler isn’t able to fit into the Warriors’ locker room dynamic or stay healthy, this deal could backfire big time with that fat salary.
