Should Joel Embiid consider retirement, or does he still have more to offer the 76ers?

Is this season meant to be tumultuous for Joel Embiid? The situation of the Philadelphia 76ers is already concerning. With a disturbing 2-10 record so far, the team is far from even walking on the championship track. And now Embiid is once again the talk of the town. The Process has already missed 10 games due to “knee management” and he had a three-game suspension for shoving a reporter. But, a new issue has popped up suddenly.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Joel Embiid is listed as doubtful for Monday’s game vs. the Heat in Miami. The former MVP has played in only two games for the struggling 76ers, and now it has become unsure when he’ll be back again. He is most likely to be out of the lineup due to this yet-to-be-disclosed illness. So, yes, there seems to be no end to Philly’s trouble.

And unfortunately, the fans aren’t happy. Of course, they do want Embiid to return healthy, but at the same time, to watch their favorite team fall apart is painful. So, there was a suggestion in the comments. A rather painful idea for The Process to process. “Just retire,” someone said with blatant brutality.

Not just a retirement idea, but fans are going all-out on Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers medics for the repeated disappointment. And sadly enough, the injury roster seems to be longer than the fit one which is even more concerning. Someone even said: “Dude got an allergy to playing basketball.” If this isn’t disheartening, then what is?

Have an interesting take?

Embiid first appeared against the New York Knicks on November 12 and scored 13 points in his 26 minutes of floor time. You could tell, the seven-time All-Star was struggling to keep up with the energy of the game. In his second game against the Orland Magic, the 30-year-old center secured 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. He struggled here as well. So, after 1o games on the bench, Joel Embiid was catching up with the pace of the league. But with his new illness, he is facing yet another setback.

So far, Joel Embiid averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 26.9 FG% in the two games he played for the Philadelphia 76ers. But his absence will once again deepen the miseries the team is already on. Paul George is yet to find his rhythm, but he’s doing fairly well, nonetheless. Tyrese Maxey is yet to return to the floor after his hamstring strain earlier this month. Who will hold the reins and sail the nearly sinking ship of Philly?
