It was just last year when Patrick Beverley and Anthony Edwards celebrated their play-in-game victory like they won the NBA championship. Beverley and Ant were on top of the announcer’s table, hyping up the fans like Dwyane Wade in Miami. The only thing missing from that celebration was some flying confetti.
Since then, Beverley has switched two teams, while Anthony Edwards has solidified his place in the Timberwolves roster as their next franchise player. When asked about his former teammate’s future in Minnesota, Pat Bev made a statement that enraged the Timberwolves’ fans.

In the season finale of Gil’s Arena podcast hosted by Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas, Patrick Beverley was asked if Anthony Edwards needs to get out of Minnesota. Beverley replied, “He will get out of Minnesota. That’s just what happens.” The newly signed Philadelphia 76ers guard thinks Anthony Edwards’ personality is too big for a small-market team like the Minnesota Timberwolves. According to Beverley, Ant should move to high-value teams like the Los Angeles Lakers or the New York Knicks. “It’s different when you got 30 games on TV and you get to see that s**t every night.” He said, talking about the impact Edwards could have if he had more nationally televised games playing for a bigger team.

Anthony Edwards made his first All-Star team in only his third season with the Timberwolves. The 22-year-old has proven in a short span that he is going to be a future superstar in the NBA. It is not just his skills on the court. His personality and aura off the court have also played a major role in his rising popularity. Edwards signed a whopping 5-year $260 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, but there is no certainty that he will stay in Minnesota after his contract expires.
Patrick Beverley’s comments irked Timberwolves fans
The Timberwolves fans were not too happy with their former guard’s comments. Even though Beverley said, “I played in Minnesota, it’s no diss on Minnesota.”, fans did not like him devaluing their organization. After spending time with the Timberwolves, fans expected Beverley to be more respectful towards his former team.
Many fans thought Patrick Beverley burnt all bridges with Minnesota with his comments:
@patbev21 you’re burning all your bridges in Minnesota. Fans loved you

Aye keep your negativity to yourself Patrick.

Fans also had a problem with Pat Bev disrespecting small-market teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves:
What’s the point of a 30+ team league if we just want to get all the young stars out of small markets?

Anthony Edwards is going to be a star in the league. Despite Patrick Beverley’s comments, it is not certain that Ant will part ways with Minnesota. Maybe he will bring more attention to the city by bringing a championship to Minnesota. Timberwolves fans hope they do not have to face a situation like Kevin Garnett, with their upcoming star, Anthony Edwards.
