In the first game back in Los Angeles, the Lakers had a sad ending, unlike their city rivals. The San Antonio Spurs managed to overturn an 11-point deficit by having their bench emptied against the Purple and Gold. There were several elements leading to the Lakers extending their losing streak to three games now.
However, an alarming reality also emerged, one irrelevant to what happens on the court.
In Orlando, the last time the Lakers won a championship, the ‘Black Mamba’ jerseys provided them with luck. This season, the Lakers introduced the ‘Lake Show’ jerseys. The city edition jerseys is highlighted by the Purple gradient. But rather than becoming a signature for winning games, it seems to be doing quite the opposite.

The loss to the Spurs was their sixth loss in seven games of donning the jersey. Hence, fans want a permanent fix.
Laker Nation does not want to see this Lakers jersey anymore
The designers behind the ‘Lake Show’ jersey did an amazing job. The jerseys look appealing and fit the template of the historic franchise. However, as far as luck, it isn’t bringing any to the Lakers. And the Laker Nation is growing tired of the theme. “The jerseys are fire but bad luck I guess” a fan mentioned.

What’s your perspective on:
Are the Lakers cursed by their jerseys, or is it just poor play causing their downfall?
Have an interesting take?
However, tonight wasn’t just the jersey. A fan also pointed out a Lakers curse. On nights where big moments are imminent, they have resulted in losses. LeBron James couldn’t grab a win when he became the all-time scorer. Tonight, on Michael Cooper’s jersey retirement, the curse continued to live on.
Surprisingly, it didn’t seem as if the curse would continue to haunt them. In the first half of the game, the LeBron James and Co. did most things right. They shot the triple well and defended a fluent Spurs offense to merely 53 points at the half. And then calamity struck. “burn them s***s!” an angry fan commented about the jerseys.
burn them shits!

In hindsight, the jersey was the last of the Lakers’ worries in their crash out against the Spurs. Their defense fell flat in the second half. Even wit Victor Wembanyama only scoring 9 points in the second half, the rest of the Spurs contingent launched a devious offense led by the ‘Point God’ Chris Paul.
But there might have been a strong indicator of the $120 worth jersey’s curse working its spell tonight. The Lakers turned the ball over 19 times tonight. It’s tied for their fifth-highest mark this season. Furthermore, the offense-powered team only scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, squashing any chances of staying competitive.
Please burn all Lake Show jerseys 😐

“Please burn all Lake Show jerseys” an upset fan wrote on X. Off the 19 turnovers, it was surprisingly LeBron James who accounted for close to half of the lost possessions. Additionally, aside from another monstrous performance from Anthony Davis, no other Lakers player managed to score over 20 points.
For the realists, that’s where the problem was situated. In the first half, the Lakers’ offense was in fine tune. Austin Reaves, a pivotal contributor hit 4 of his fist seven shots. Since then, the skillful guard couldn’t convert a single shot. James was efficient, but didn’t attempt a large volume of shots.

Ah, so it’s the jersey’s fault, not the players. Got it.

A Lakerfan sarcastically wrote “Ah, so it’s the jersey’s fault, not the players. Got it,”. Honestly, it’s hard to win games in this era when only one of the offensive fulcrums is producing. Tonight, barring AD, no Lakers player could be a reliable contributor. The team shom just 22% from three in the final 24 minutes. They converted close to 40% of their attempts in the first half.
With three straight losses, the urgency to produce is beginning to grow for JJ Redick and the Lakers contingent. However, with such performances, maybe a bit of luck could change their fortune. Where do you think it all went wrong for the Lakers? Let us know your views in the comments below.
