The Milwaukee Bucks forward Khris Middleton left the Suns game less than nine minutes into the game on account of a left ankle sprain. While shooting a three-pointer, Middleton landed awkwardly on Kevin Durant’s feet and twisted his ankle. He was out for the rest of the game.

The “Deer State” was already missing two key players, Brook Lopez and Damian Lillard, tonight. Adding Middleton to the list is not a good sign against a healthy Suns’ roster.

Middleton left the court after landing six points, one assist, and three rebounds. The Suns are coming off a fresh win against the Wizards and will look to continue the trend. Finishing the halftime with 48-49, Phoenix has taken the lead going into the third quarter (55-51 at the 9:00 mark).

The ‘Brew City’ is already missing their star guard, Lillard due to recurring ankle issues. His absence hasn’t translated well for the team. The Bucks are 0-3 without the 8x All-Star. But Middleton is the real cause for worry here. Especially given his injury history.

Khris Middleton and his affinity for injuries

Middleton has had an injury-addled career. Saying anything otherwise would be quite useless. From his MCL sprain on his left knee in the 2022 playoffs, the 3x All-Star hasn’t gotten much break from injuries. One could say that he’s gone through them all.

From upper and lower body injuries, ranging from finger, knee, and hip to major knee, and ankle injuries, Khris Middleton has been a regular victim. He also underwent two surgeries last summer, one on his knee and the other, on his wrist. He has played 42 games out of the Bucks’ 50 games this season.

After assigning a Flagrant 1 to KD upon review, Middleton landed one of his two free throws. He left for the locker room soon after, thought without any assistance. That is the silver lining we can look forward to here. The team might rest him for a few regular season games if that means they can get him to stay healthy for the postseason.

Despite all the obvious shortcomings, Middleton has remained a sold third-scoring option for Milwaukee. He has scored in double digits for the larger part of the season while averaging 15.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. Hopefully, tonight’s injury isn’t too serious and he can return to the floor soon!
