Following the Lakers’ embarrassing first-round exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, the NBA World is predicting a big shift in La La Land this summer. And the biggest change that might be inevitable now is the firing of head coach Darvin Ham. Due to visible differences between Ham and the Lakers squad, along with his failure to make the right adjustments to save the Lakers’ season, his days in LA might be numbered. Amid the uncertainty, LeBron’s younger son, Bryce James fueled the fire even more by trolling Darvin on TikTok.
In a shocking move, Bryce reposted a video about Darvin Ham that has been making the rounds on social media. And in that video is a viral meme depicting Ham’s hands always being in his pockets while the Lakers struggle, even when the Nuggets went on a 15-0 run against his team.

Although Ham’s casual body language on the court amid the Lakers’ failed run has turned into an ongoing joke on social media, not many expected Bryce to jump on the bandwagon amid LeBron’s uncertain future in LA. With a $51.4 million player option for next season, LeBron currently holds the leverage over the Lakers to either build a team that can win a Championship or risk him leaving the city for a better situation.
Multiple times this season, LeBron seemed disinterested in Ham’s coaching style and could be seen ignoring his instructions on the court. Moreover, on his podcast, he even admitted to vetoing Ham’s decisions on the court during a regular season game, “We had switching built in versus Kawhi and versus James (Harden) and whatever the case may be, and I vetoed it in the second half.”

So, Ham getting fired could be one of the conditions for LeBron to stay in LA, as their vision doesn’t seem to match.
Darvin Ham seems to know that this is the end
Although Darvin Ham still has two years left on his contract with the Lakers, he seems to understand that he might have coached his final game in LA. According to The Athletic, sources suggested that Ham is “unlikely to return” next season. With that, Ham took a moment to reminisce about his journey as the Lakers head coach after the team’s loss on Monday, “My mind’s all over the place right now… It’s been a hell of a two years, I’ll tell you that. Sitting in this seat, it’s been a hell of a two years.”

However, Ham did not leave the podium without getting some heavy things off his chest, even throwing some Lakers’ players under the bus, “If you’re coaching a team and one of your starters is like 10 games in a row, just s**ting the bed, what are you going to do?” Even though no names were taken specifically, speculations began that Ham was talking about D’Angelo Russell’s rough patch during the season.
Whatever the case, it really looks like Darvin Ham and the Lakers have reached an impasse. And with Bryce taking shots at the head coach on TikTok, his departure seems like a foregone conclusion.
