Bryce James' bold comparison: Is Bronny the next LeBron, or is it too early to tell?

“All the people around you really see your true potential.” With this line coming from 17-year-old Bryce James, there is no doubt that he has been loving the spotlight in high school. However, living up to the expectations might just become tougher for the teen as he looks to make a statement before college. Now, many compare Bryce to his older brother, Bronny, and his Dad. But who does his game resemble the most? Well, many consider him better than the rookie Laker! Nevertheless, Bryce has a different opinion on the same.

During the Nike EYBL, Bryce James caught a lot of attention after his performance against the Nightrydas Elite. As exciting as it was watching him play, the narrative around Bryce being better than his older brother picked up momentum. Bronny made a lot of noise in high school. However, his youngster sibling still has a year to prove himself and is steadily climbing the ranks. He averaged 5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and shot 31% from the field in Peach Jam and before one of his games, the teen has shut the harsh narratives around his older brother.

“Probably say me and my dad have the same passing ability than with the shooting, probably me and my brother, got the same shooting abilities,” Bryce told UNINTERRUPTED. This might leave fans shocked, but the 17-year-old does believe himself to be as good of a shooter as his brother. This has a lot to do with Bronny’s averages during his freshman year at USC. He averaged 26.7% from three at just 2.4 attempts per game.

But looking back at his high school days, an eye-to-eye comparison of the James brothers would prove Bryce to have a better shooting touch even though he averages fewer attempts from beyond the arc. On the other hand, his playmaking, finishing, and defense have been his highlights so far. But is he really better than Bronny? Well, the teen has a lot to prove and needs to showcase his skill clearly before he thinks about the NBA Draft, to avoid a repeat from the past.

If anything, Stephen A. believes the same. “I also think we’re wrong to just be talking about him. Something inside of me tells me we should be paying just as much attention to Bryce James, LeBron’s other kid. I don’t think we’ve mentioned him enough. Everything I’m hearing that kid’s got a lot of potential,” the hoops critic said. Recently, Bryce had yet another school interested in him after Duquesne’s offer. With colleges keeping an eye on the 17-year-old, now is his time to shine!

Bryce James has 3 offers on the table- Can the star kid reach his potential?

Bryce recently caught Ohio State’s attention as they become the second university to offer the teen a spot on their roster. Not only that, but USC has also shown interest in Bryce from quite early on. And of course, Duquesne was Bryce’s first offer on the table. The teen will look to get better, knowing that this stage in high school is crucial in terms of getting more offers, propelling him higher. It will be interesting to see Bryce’s performance in the upcoming games. Till then, the young gun has a lot of work to put in.

The Nike EYBL helped Bryce put his name out there with the top prospects. Not only that but this even clashed with Bronny’s Summer League which led to several comparisons between the two. To put things into perspective, majority of the fans have been liking Bryce’s chances of making the NBA as one of the top picks in his draft class. Showing signs of greater potential, LeBron James’ younger son also had Brian Windhorst surprised who weighed on the teen’s abilities.

“More naturally talented son appears to be Bryce, but the now who wants it so badly is Bronny,” Windhorst said in 2022, without any recency bias, as the newly announced Laker was still far away from the NBA.
