LeBron James never went to college. The Chosen One directly joined the NBA as a teenager following his dominant run in High School. But it looks like LeBron’s sons will not follow in his footsteps. With his older son, Bronny playing for the USC Trojans, the younger son Bryce will soon choose his college route. There have been rumors about Bryce James committing to Ohio State University, after his visit to the campus in 2023.

Amid the rumors, LeBron’s “Family Ties” in another D-1 program might cause him to reconsider Bryce’s college future. Despite being on the injury report for tonight’s Lakers vs. Warriors clash, LeBron headed to the gym and enjoyed some NCAA Basketball. LeBron was excited about the Duquesne Dukes vs. St. Bonaventure Bonnies game and boasted of his family ties with Duquesne. He shared a video watching the game on his Instagram story and wrote, “Let’s go @duqmbb!! Keep hooping @druondemand Coach Dambrot! Family ties.” The NBA veteran was reminiscing about a really old connection from his younger days.

Duquesne Dukes’ head coach, Keith Dambrot, was LeBron James’ coach during his High School days at St. Vincent-St. Mary. LeBron won back-to-back state titles under Dambrot’s leadership. Apart from Dambrot, King James has another connection at Duquesne. His high school teammate Dru Joyce III is an Associate Head Coach for the Dukes. When Joyce took that position in 2022, LeBron said, “I’m so proud of the journey and growth my brother continues to ascend towards in his coaching career”.

“His knowledge of the game and work ethic will be immediately impactful to the Duquesne program!”, he asserted. The NBA icon knows that Joyce and Dambrot have a Championship mentality, and that could be helpful for Bryce’s college career.

Bryce James has yet to make a decision!

Despite the countless rumors, Bryce James has yet to decide on his college future. The 16-year-old is a 4-star recruit in the class of 2025 and will have multiple college offers to choose from. Bryce is a talented 6’6 guard with huge potential, and many colleges would love to have him in their program. He received an offer from Ohio State University last year after he took an unofficial visit to their campus. But a visit does not assure Bryce’s commitment to Ohio State.

His older brother, Bronny James also visited Ohio State during his decision-making time. But he eventually chose to join USC and become a part of the Trojans. With LeBron James’ Family Ties at Duquesne and his interest in their basketball program, there is a possibility of Bryce joining his father’s High School teammate and head coach. What’s your take?
