Bronny James has always been a protective big brother, especially to Bryce. From time and again, they reveal just how deep their sibling bond runs. Meanwhile, Sarah Johnston, head of Old Trail School, recalls seeing Bronny in his element around campus, years ago. She also remembers the time when his younger sibling met with a playground accident and the now-rookie Laker was there by his side. For the eldest son of LeBron James, family comes first, especially when it comes to his younger brother, Bryce.
Sarah Johnston took a quick trip down memory lane during an interview with The Athletic: “I remember one time Bryce got hurt, like a playground or something. I remember he split his head open, and I was with him in the nurse’s office and he had glasses. So, I think he hit his head and the glasses broke the skin. And we went and got Bronny, and Bronny came and sat with him, held his hand. That tightness, I think (Savannah) really drove a lot of that too.”

The head of the institution credits LeBron James’ wife, Savannah, for the bond the two James brothers have. Bronny James especially seems to have welcomed the responsibilities of being the elder son from a very young age. However, his reaction to his little brother’s injury showed how much he cared/cares for his playtime buddy. But this is not where the heartwarming tales stop. Sarah Johnston and another teacher of the institution Carrie Brown have opened the box of secrets that had been behind the curtains for so long.
Bronny James’ ex-school teachers unveil the lesser-known side of the Laker
Old Trail School’s social studies teacher, Carrie Brown, fondly recalls Bronny James as a respectful and natural leader in the ranks. When her sixth graders struggled with teamwork during recess, she asked a young Bronny, then a seventh grader, to speak to them. The teacher was struck by his message: “If you ever want to play competitively, like for real, they’re not going to take you unless you’re a team player… if you don’t know how to work with other people, then they don’t want you on their team.”

Carrie Brown keeps a sample of Bronny’s schoolwork as a reminder of his humility, sharing it yearly as “an example of good work from a child who could have ignored school and the people he met because of the fame and fortune he was born into, but didn’t.”
Meanwhile, Sarah Johnston remembers Bronny James as a humble leader. LeBron’s son “pumped people up and brought out the best in them.” She notes that he was the last in his class to get a cell phone. This was due to LeBron and Savannah’s thoughtful choices.

Bronny James’ time at Old Trail School left a lasting mark. His teachers saw a humble leader and a loyal brother, willing to put family and teamwork above everything. Despite the young hooper’s household name and fame, he remained grounded and genuine, bringing out the best in those around him. Bronny’s kindness and character always shone, never overshadowed by being LeBron James’ son.
Well, Papa James lived by example. He’s had all the fame in the world and still showed up for his sons. Every time. Will Harding, Bronny’s senior, termed the 22-season veteran as a “really cool, good dad.” From fancy dress shows (Bronny dressed up as a book, apparently!) to support him from the court’s sidelines, “LeBron was at the school walking around just like a normal dad.”
