Stephen Curry admits Team USA is beatable—Is this the beginning of the end for their reign?

Despite winning all five exhibition games, Team USA doesn’t have a supremely positive outlook, heading into the Paris Olympics. After a close win against South Sudan, the Hoopers almost bit the dust against Germany in their last exhibition game. If not for LeBron James‘ yet another fourth-quarter flurry, the team would be taking a flight to Paris on a bad note. Yet, Stephen Curry, who had a decent run in these pre-Olympics games, dropped a shocking statement from his learning.

Following the Germany game, a reporter caught hold of Stephen Curry in the locker room and asked about his takeaways after the 5-0 run. Giving it a long thought, Curry said, “I’ve learned that we’re beatable if we don’t execute the details of what teams they have to do to be the switch, get some possessions, take care of the ball, fouling too much has nothing to do with our offensive game.” Notably, the Warriors icon didn’t have an easy game in London, as he played with a blood-stained sleeve on his right leg. He also admitted that a critical aspect of their game hadn’t clicked yet.

Stephen Curry showed confidence that the team could return stronger in France. He added, “Obviously Bron has been taking over the fourth quarter, giving us a huge bump but the offensive game. We haven’t played our best offensive game yet, but when we lock in defensively when we rebound, nobody can really beat us.”

“That’s how we’ve been coming back these last two games. Just execute the details, playing solid hard basketball. We’ll be fine. See you in Paris,” the Splash Brother concluded. While LeBron James has held this team together for the business end of games, Steph had a silent final warm-up game. The Dubs superstar only recorded 13 points in his 25-minute run and didn’t make much noise from downtown either. Curry, known for his shooting prowess, went 1-7 FG from the perimeter. That brings us to his scoring partner pulling out his wings!

How did LeBron James pull it off, again?

Not very long ago, the hoops community celebrated King James for his heroics against South Sudan. The 39-year-old held his nerve and dropped a tough contested layup to take a one-point lead with 8 seconds remaining on the clock. And Team USA eventually won the game, denying the newcomers.

However, the game against Germany required a little more than just a game-winner from LeBron James. He didn’t just score the last bucket but scored the last 11 points with a 4-4 FG and snatch a 92-88 win. The Akron Hammer can’t prove himself any further to his naysayers. Rightly so, he was honored, in a way, as he’s been nominated to be the flag-bearer at Friday’s Olympics opening ceremony.

The team initially looked like they had corrected their repeated mistakes, which was having a slow start to games. Team USA started strong, taking a 29-17 lead in the first quarter. However, Germany, led by Franz Wagner, countered hard in the next two quarters, outscoring the US with a 54-39 score line. Nevertheless, it came down to yet another final quarter drama.

Germany led the game 82-81 around the fourth minute in the last quarter. That is where LeBron James channeled his greatness and secured the win with 20 points 6 rebounds and 4 assists. He truly saved the country’s hardwood reputation after the 2023 FIBA World Cup disaster, even though this was a Showcase game. Will James continue his service in the Olympics? Let us know in the comments.
