Ben Simmons went to the Brooklyn Nets hopeful to revamp his career after his tumultuous conclusion with the Philadelphia 76ers. When he has played for the Nets, Simmons has proved to be a valuable asset, contributing as an elite playmaker and tenacious defender. The problem, though, is that he has barely played. In two seasons with the Nets, Simmons has only participated in 57 games.

Most recently, the 2016 number-one pick went through arguably his most strenuous and complex injury. Recurring back worries saw him stay out of action for three months. When he finally returned on January 31, logging in a near triple-double, Brooklyn fans were optimistic. However, it didn’t take long for the injury plague to strike again.

After playing frequently after his return, Simmons has picked up a leg injury. Could it sideline him against the team that started his horrors – the Atlanta Hawks?

Will Ben Simmons get a revenge game against the Hawks

Ben Simmons hasn’t been a part of the Net rotation over the last two games due to his leg injury. The 27-year-old was slowly finding his feet again. In eight games in February, he averaged 5.4 points, 4.4 assists, and a steal in 19 minutes off the bench for the Brooklyn Nets. But his momentum came to a pause with his current leg injury.

According to the latest updates, Simmons is being monitored as day-to-day. However, he is listed as questionable for the game against the Hawks. The Nets will miss his defensive prowess, especially against a silky guard like Dejounte Murray. Brooklyn will also lack a dynamo scorer in Cam Thomas who is out with an ankle injury.

For Simmons, the game against the Hawks might be one he marks on the calendar and counts the days down to. It was that one unforgiving moment against the Hawks during the 2021 ECSF that would commence his NBA nightmares. He passed out a wide-open dunk with Trae Young as his primary man, a 6’1″ guard.

Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that Simmons will not have his moment tonight. The Brooklyn star will be sitting out the match due to soreness in his left leg. Thus, Nets fans will have to give him more time to be back in shape and get back on the court. Do you think the Nets can manage a win against the Hawks without Ben Simmons running the ball with his team?
