It still feels surreal. LeBron James is going into his 22nd season in the NBA and to make things sweeter, he’ll be accompanied by his son, Bronny James. Of course, the reported new deal has not been signed yet, but do you think LeBron will pass up this opportunity to fulfill his dream? Probably not. How many NBA greats have shared the court with their sons? None. LeBron will become the one of one.
Being a veteran on the hardwood, Paul George has seen it all and done it all, if we excuse his lack of Finals appearances. So as a vocal member of the basketball circuit, he found it only fitting to dip his fingers in the streamlined discussion around Bronny James. On the latest episode of Podcast P, Paul George was joined by co-host Dallas Rutherford and Trey Murphy III. Inevitably there were talks about Bronny James and his draft to the Lakers. Praising the 19-yo, Paul George reiterated his feelings and said, “I’m a fan of Bronny. Yeah, why not? I think he has NBA potential for sure.”. To this Murphy said, “You also have to worry about the other side, which I’m sure with all the other guys in the NBA, he’s gonna have a target on his back.”
“Imagine Patrick Beverley, the opportunity he gets to have on Bronny like, he’s gonna take advantage of that,” Murphy added to which Rutherford highlighted, “He got a protector behind him so I think he’ll be alright.” It will be no surprise that LeBron will get involved at the first sight of trash-talking his son by the NBA’s villains like Pat Bev and Dillon Brooks who are notorious for their trash-talking, the former in particular.

Patrick Beverley has his fair share of beef with LeBron in the past. In March 2023, the Lakers welcomed the Bulls to the Crypto.com arena. The game also marked the return of LeBron James from his injury. After scoring over the 39-year-old, the former Lakers guard hit the “too small” celly on Bron. Most recently Beverly found himself in hot water after throwing the ball at a spectator during the Bucks’ loss to the Pacers in the first-round playoffs last season. With such combustible elements on the court and a rookie in front of him, it should be surprising if tempers don’t flare if Beverley resorts to his usual antics to get LeBron thrown out of the game.
This was touched upon by Rutherford, who suggested that LeBron “will be involved in a lot of scuffles this season,” earning him ejection and even bans. But to LeBron, all of these are afterthoughts as he is still living in a dream and his social media updates explain why it is that way. LeBron’s excitement and pride in seeing his son make it to the NBA are highlighted.
LeBron still can’t get over Bronny James’ draft
It’s been more than 72 hours since Bronny James had his name called on the second night of the 2024 NBA Draft. While Bronny was in tears alongside his mother, LeBron kept himself in the shadows. Did he cry? We won’t know for sure but given LeBron’s social media updates, we can assume it was a pretty big deal for him.
“With the 55th in the 2024 NBA draft. The Los Angeles Lakers select……. Bronny James. Just had a moment!”, LeBron wrote in his X post. He can still hear the exact wording of the moment and is still living in it. From suffering a heart attack and then making a comeback just after a few months, Bronny’s journey has been nothing short of a fairytale.

Despite all the noises about nepotism, Bronny knows exactly the road he has ahead of him. While he’ll be in a developmental curve, rest assured that the father-son duo will be in live NBA action at some point in time. And just like daddy Bron helped him walk his first steps, he’ll be there right beside him helping him through his baby steps on the NBA court.
