Former NY Knicks player Stephon Marbury dropped rare advice to Bronny James. Over the last few hours, the 19-year-old has been in the headlines over the college transfer revelation. Meanwhile, the rest of the hoops community engaged in debating the youngster’s game and the recent update. As Bronny is likely to play his sophomore year in college, Marbury shared a unique perspective on the rising star’s future involving the legend, Allen Iverson.
In a recent podcast episode of Ball Don’t Stop, which was deleted later, Marbury laid out a blueprint for James Jr. Firstly, he urged the starlet to play more minutes in the upcoming season and expected him to learn from the mistakes. Apart from that, he also shared an important insight. Marbury said, “Him staying in the school for 2 years is not a bad thing. You got guys like Allen Iverson. He played two years of college.”
The Philadelphia 76ers legend Allen Iverson played two years of college basketball from 1994 to 1996. During his freshman year for the Georgetown school, he averaged 20.4 points with 4.5 assists. In the following year, he recorded 25 points and 4.7 assists per game. This catapulted him to become the first overall pick of the 1996 NBA Draft. On the other hand, Bronny James has had a disappointing run, averaging 4.8 points per game.

Many pundits argued that the star guard had relatively less time to prepare for the NCAA race. He suffered a cardiac arrest during the off-season and joined his team, the USC Trojans, under-prepared. The team also crashed out of the tournament with a poor 8-12 record. The recent reports suggest that Bronny might head to a different school for his sophomore year. Maybe, he can shut down his critics in the next season.

Since the rising star had very little time to prepare for the freshman year season, he could lock himself in the lab, preparing for the next season. And along with his partnership with his team and players, the situation can bring the best out of him. Stephon Marbury also predicted that Bronny would have a better season in his sophomore year.
He said, “When I look at him as an NBA player, he has all the qualities… He will get strong and he will get better. His dad is one of the best basketball players in the world. He has all the tools and all the equipment.”
On the other hand, Bronny’s ever-famous father LeBron also made a statement about the recent transfer speculations. Clearing the air for good, LBJ said, “Bronny is his own man. He has some tough decisions to make. When he is ready to make those decisions, he will let us all know. His family will support whatever he does.”
