Bronny James has come a long way. From listening to “Overrated” & “Who’s your daddy?” chants, the Lakers rookie received overwhelming love from the Crypto.com arena. Tonight, the LA side hosted the Boston Celtics in the Rivals Week clash, and without a doubt, it was a sellout crowd. Above all, to everyone’s surprise, LeBron James & Co. decimated the Celtics and paved the way for plenty of garbage time.
It ultimately means the crowd can get a glimpse of the rookies and reserves for a while. Around the 4th minute mark, JJ Redick deployed James Jr. on the floor much later after fans’ demand. Moments before the coach decided to send the young gun in, the LA crowd was behind him, chanting Bronny’s name.
Even the commentators, describing the event, said, “You can hear the crowd now. Bronny. They wanna see the younger generation of James take the floor here.” However, the 20-year-old, sitting on the Lakers’ bench, waited there, emotionless and unfazed by the rousing chants. Even when the camera was panned at him and his face was displayed on the big scream, Bronny James seemed locked in with what was happening on the court.

On a lighter note, the game didn’t need much attention at that time, as the Lakers mowed over the defending champs. Finally, Bronny responded to the crowd when he checked in with 3:46 left in the game. However, the fans couldn’t witness much of his action on the floor. In his 3-minute odd stay on the floor, the guard took only one shot. He missed the bucket too. Notably, gone are those days when a set of fans trolled him for an underwhelming run. He has certainly silenced them with his recent flurry in the G-League and maybe even turned them into his fans.

During Bronny’s high school stint, fans witnessed highlight reels of the young gun circulating on social media platforms. At that time, fans never really judged the star’s ability. It was when he entered college and donned the USC thread, James got exposed to hate. Unfortunately, during the lead-up to the freshman season, Bronny suffered cardiac arrest. This ultimately stopped his preparation abruptly.
Months later, the doctors cleared him to play college basketball. However, it was already too late, and he had to join his teammates from the bench. And, James’ performance wasn’t as great as it was expected to be. He did whatever he could, averaging 4.8 ppg in 25 games. During this tough run, the USC Trojans traveled to LA to face UCLA in front of a packed Los Angeles crowd.

At that time, the crowd didn’t show any mercy as they went after him with brutal chants whenever he stepped on the court. Those chants were ‘Overrated” & “Who’s your daddy?’. Nevertheless, Bronny took that all in unfazed and managed to earn a spot in the Lakers’ fold. Now, the same crowd poured overwhelming love on the rising star. Can Bronny go further and repay them back with his performances in the coming future? Let us know in the comments below.
