“I just want to have people know my name is Bronny James and not be identified as just LeBron James’ son. I feel like that would be a great angle.” Putting out this statement during the NBA Combine in Chicago, the 20-year-old NBA player indicated that, with time, people should have a different perception of him. After all, if it can happen with Dell and Stephen Curry, then why not with his father and him? But, for that to be true, the player will have to take some measures if he is serious about the goal he set for himself. Fortunately, the young star recently took one such major step towards becoming more independent, which was revealed by LeBron James himself.

LeBron recently sat down for an interview on the ‘GoJo and Golic’ podcast. When discussing playing at such a high level at the age of 40, LeBron revealed that his three kids: Bronny, Bryce, and Zhuri, have certainly helped to keep him younger, at least in spirit. Engaging with each of them in their respective sport caused LeBron to state that his three kids bring so much life to the household”. After a small pause, however, LeBron then added “Well, Bronny has his own household now, but my other two kids they’re still here, so they give me a lot of life”.

The news that Bronny James has moved out of his parents’ house would have certainly come as a surprise to many. After all, as of October 2024, the 20-year-old was reportedly still living with LeBron, Savannah, and his other siblings in their $39 million mansion that was his home for so many years. More importantly, LeBron James’ mansion in Beverley Hills is nothing short of a dream house, why would Bronny want to let go of that?

Purchased back in 2020 for $36.8 million, it covers a 13,000-square-foot area. Previously belonging to Hugh Hefner and Katherine Hepburn, and buying it from soap opera legend Lee Phillip Bell, LeBron acquired a place of history. It boasts everything from a screening room, a lighted tennis court, and a pool house with two bathrooms. The residence also reportedly boasted one of the largest driveway gates in all of Los Angeles.

All of this was still not enough. Because. back in June 2023 LeBron reportedly razed the entire existing structure to build his version of a dream home. But, no matter what it is like, it would still ooze class. A class that 4-year, $7.9 million contract Bronny James has now moved out of to create his own life.

No one can deny that this is certainly a commendable effort by Bronny. Another step towards independence. After all, as Bronny had fulfilled one part of the rule that LeBron had set for him to become his own person, then it was about time that he built on to that.

LeBron James revealed that Bronny had not called him “Dad” anytime in the locker room: “We’ve been good so far”

When Bronny James was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers back in June, it was certainly a historical moment. For the first time in the history of the NBA, a father-son duo was going to play together— that too for the same team. However, along with the usual doubts about how efficient Bronny would be, another question was raised: What about the dynamic between him and LeBron James be like?

The now 40-year-old made it clear when he was in Paris, representing Team USA during the 2024 Summer Olympics. He revealed “We already laid that down. He cannot call me ‘Dad’ in the workplace, all right? Once we leave out of the practice facility and the gates close, I could be ‘Dad’ again. In the car if we ride together, at home, I could be ‘Dad. No, he got to call me like ‘2-3’ (indicating LeBron’s Jersey Number 23) or ‘Bron’, or ‘GOAT’, if he wants to. It’s up to him. I mean, it’s up to him.”

Months later, LeBron was glad to announce that his son lived up to that ultimate rule. When asked about the Dad-Player dynamic during his recent interview, LeBron added “No, he has not let a dad slip, you know. He been calling me Bron and 2-3, and we’ve been good so far. Off the court, though, I’m still Dad, so that’s pretty cool.”
