It’s not even a day since the LA crowd raised rousing ‘Bronny’ chants in the Crypto.com arena and the young gun has already delivered something special. On Thursday night, fans got a glimpse of Bronny James on court during the Lakers’ blowout win over the Celts. Little did they know that the 20-year-old would light up the sky the next day. Last night, the rising star dropped his career-high 31 points, donning the South Bay Lakers uniforms. Most importantly, he announced his arrival with an emotional speech.

After December 21, last night was the first time Bronny laced up for the South Bay team. In the meantime, he traveled with the veterans. Notably, he found the junior team in a devastating 1-7 record. They faced the Rip City Remix and looked like they were heading toward their fifth consecutive loss, as the visitors held a 9-point lead at halftime.

Bronny James, who looked completely off-color initially, sparked the team’s comeback with a monster poster dunk. The team made a 31-17 run in the third quarter and finished the game with a 122-110 win. James Jr. came out on top, finishing with 31 points with 5 three-pointers. While the rising star’s performance was in itself impressive, he doubled it down with his post-game interview. He literally spit out poetry.

When the interviewer asked if he was having fun after breaking the shackles of constant criticism and unwanted attention, he said something that would stay for longer. “I’m having fun. Anytime I’m playing basketball, anytime I’m out here breathing, anytime I’m out here walking, I am having fun and I am grateful. I am just down to earth, I’m grateful for everything that was given to me, said Bronny, holding his tears back. It’s not over yet. He announced his arrival. Well, not directly.

Bronny James finally breaks loose

“I’m just trying to get my confidence back! That’s all I’m trying go out play my game, learn from every game,” this is what the game-winning performance meant to the young gun. Even though he is not entirely ready to take over the senior team, Bronny surely is on the right track.

Moreover, he has laid out a plan for himself in the coming days. While he travels with the senior team regularly, he has a set agenda for the South Bay team as well. Speaking after last night’s game, he said, “Motive is just first of all, trying to get a win. We ended up doing that tonight. Just try to play the right way every night. We know that we are a good team and we can come out with dubs like this, so we play the right way, we play smart, play together, we’ll be good down the road.”
