Bronny James Draft News: Rich Paul Warns Lakers and Suns Amid Rising Interest From 3 Teams With Guaranteed Contracts

With the 2024 NBA Draft less than a week away, teams have been showing interest in Bronny James. Declaring for the draft after his freshman year, the teen doesn’t have a stacked resume. However, his agent, Rich Paul is determined to get the best fit for him. So far, Bronny has only two individual workout sessions, with the Lakers and the Suns. The Lakers have the 17th and the 55th pick in the draft. While they will give their all to land Bronny, the Suns, sitting at the 22nd pick are not going to sleep on the opportunity.

Though even after the private workouts, the Lakers and the Suns do not have an edge at landing Bronny. Recently, Rich Paul revealed the teams that showed great interest in James Jr. “There are other teams that love Bronny. For example, Minnesota, Dallas, Toronto. If it’s not the Lakers, it will be someone else. Minnesota would love to get Bronny in, but I don’t know who their owner is going to be. Nico Harrison is like an uncle to Bronny. If the Lakers don’t take him at 55, Dallas would take him at 58 and give him a guaranteed deal. Masai loves him. They could take him without even seeing him at 31. Workouts aren’t everything for these teams.”, Paul told ESPN.

These three teams are willing to land Bronny with guaranteed contracts. Paul made sure that if the teams were willing to show any sort of interest, they would do so to sign the teen a guaranteed contract. As it seems, Bronny can be picked by either of the five teams, still, his pick isn’t stable.

There are chances that Bronny gets drafted in the first round. He’s projected to be the 55th pick, which if goes as planned, the Lakers will be able to draft him. On the other hand, the new teams in the picture would only have a chance at Bronny in the second round. However, the thought of possibly signing LeBron James following Bronny’s draft shouldn’t be a concern for any team, as James hasn’t confirmed or updated on his wish to play with his son.

Paul does not rely on scheduling workouts with various teams. Instead, he looks for the team who gives the best value for his client. He has managed to do the same so far, minimizing the need for private workouts for Bronny. “This is nothing new, the goal is to find a team that values your guy and try to push him to get there.”, said Paul. With five teams at his disposal, it is only a matter of time before Bronny signs either of them.

Earlier, there was more buzz around James and Bronny playing together. However, the priorities have shifted to taking care of the draft process. The Lakers have competitors near both of their confirmed picks. In the second round, the Mavs have the chance to pick him late if the Lakers fail at the 55th pick. Whereas in the first round, the Suns are eager to bring in Bronny at 22nd.
