Over the last couple of years, LeBron James has, on several occasions, expressed his wish to share the main stage with his son, Bronny James. However, what he had not anticipated was the amount of twists and turns his eldest son’s career would take. Now, with all eyes on him, every move he makes, or the one he doesn’t, is under intense scrutiny. Despite having just returned from a cardiac arrest episode, he has to bear the weight of living up to his stupendous surname. And when his collegiate career did not kick off as many might have envisioned, the cacophony of criticism only grew louder.
He is averaging 5.0 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game on a 37 percent shooting efficiency from the field. Not very inspiring numbers when you have to satisfy a crowd who want you to be a mirror image of the kid from Akron. However, despite the overwhelming buzz and the boos that can even rattle professionals, Bronny has been relatively calm through it all.

While Bronny James has often been praised for being cool-headed, his dad LeBron James recently lost his cool due to a recent ‘mock’ incident. His parental instincts took over when Bronny was once again torn apart by the media after ESPN didn’t include him in its latest 2024 mock draft. In a now-deleted post on X, he wrote, “Can yall please just let the kid be a kid and enjoy college basketball. The work and results will ultimately do the talking no matter what he decides to do. If y’all don’t know he doesn’t care what a mock draft says, he just WORKS! Earned Not Given!”
Despite LeBron James’ concerns, Bronny has become impervious to the relentless scrutiny. His close friend and Grizzlies guard Ziaire Williams revealed that the Trojans’ guard remains unfazed despite the attention, “Bronny has the weight of the world on his shoulders. I don’t know what I would do if I was in his position, with all the attention and just the notoriety. He’s not even worried about it—or doesn’t even see it, to be honest. He just—he blinds it so well,” said Williams.
It is easy for him to tune out the noise because he knows that he needs to stay focused on his game. But it’s also easy because he never counted on an NBA career. Back in 2022, Bronny said, “I’ll see what happens. I’m going to be playing basketball. If [I] go down that path, then it is what it is.” If the NBA doesn’t pan out, “I’m cool.”
