It was only two seasons ago that the Kings ended their 16-year playoff drought, thanks to Mike Brown’s high IQ coaching. However, the franchise has seen a massive decline since then, especially this season. They currently rank 12th in the West and have lost their last five games. Sure enough, it has led the Kings’ front office to take serious action as they have decided to part ways with Brown.
Yes, Mike Brown has reportedly been fired from his role as head coach, less than two years after bagging the Coach of the Year trophy! When he took the hot seat in 2022, he had made his intentions clear in his introductory presser: “I’m not coming here to quote-unquote have fun and be excited and join the area. I’m coming here to win, so we’re going to embrace anything that’s in front of us that talks about winning.” Well, that’s exactly what he did in his first year, winning 48 games and bagging the 3rd seed in the West.
However, while everyone expected the Kings to take an even bigger leap last season, they ended up missing the playoffs. And it looks like things reached a tipping point after this year’s abysmal start, leading to his sudden firing.

As expected, the NBA World was not pleased by the news and they urged the Golden State Warriors to rescue Mike Brown as comments like “@warriors bring him back” and “come back to the Bay Mike” began flooding in.
Of course, Brown is highly beloved in the Bay Area because he spent 6 seasons there as an assistant coach before taking the job in Sacramento. Moreover, the franchise won 3 championships during his tenure. And Dub Nation would love to have him back, but this time for a much bigger responsibility!
Dub Nation demands Joe Lacob to “fire Kerr” and bring in Mike Brown
Despite his recent struggles, Brown initially proved in Sacramento that he can be a solid head coach if given the chance. And now that he is available in the market, many franchises might be eyeing him to lead their squad. Well, Dub Nation wants the Warriors to be one of them as they seem fed up with Steve Kerr’s decision-making. After Brown’s firing became public, netizens soon urged Joe Lacob to “Bring him back and fire Kerr” while one fan also wrote, “@warriors this is your sign to fire Steve Kerr.”

Yes, Kerr has led the franchise to four championships and multiple Finals appearances. However, he seems to be struggling this season as the Bay Area side has lost 11 of their last 14 games and currently ranks 10th in the West. That is really not a record a legacy-rich franchise would want to associate themselves with, wouldn’t they? So, sure enough, Dub Nation is demanding a change so that they can pursue another title while Steph Curry is still playing at a high level.

Meanwhile, many fans also criticized the Kings for firing an elite coach like Mike Brown, deeming them to be a “TERRIBLE ORGANIZATION” and claiming “Firing a coach because players are bad is crazy work.”
Unfortunately, it seems to have become a norm in the NBA that the head coaches are the first to get booted if things go wrong, regardless of whose fault it is. And Mike Brown is just another name on that never-ending list. Hopefully, he will find a new job soon, maybe even returning to the Bay Area like Dub Nation wants. What are your thoughts? Do you want him back at the Golden State?
