Bradley Beal faced an ankle injury during his jump shot, landing awkwardly on his foot. Awkward would be too mild a word. He immediately fell to the floor, grabbing his leg. The injury happened in the first quarter with 7:28 left on the clock.
Beal was immediately taken to the locker room and confirmed that he wouldn’t be returning for the rest of the game. Coach Frank Vogel, though, has good news for Suns fans.

Having missed most of this season with back injuries, Beal was just becoming a regular on the floor. The Big 3 made their highly anticipated debut on Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets. Though the Nets won 116-112, Beal had 14 points and four assists. After all, the team will be cautious with Bradley, easing him into the game.
It was in the wake of such eager plans being drawn that tonight’s injury happened. With no fracture in the report, we can hope that Beal might just have to rest for a bit before he can join his teammates.
“You could see the disappointment on his face”: Vogel on Beal
Donte DiVincenzo was assessed a flagrant 1 foul for his role in Bradley Beal’s injury. Staying down on the ground until the pain subsided, Beal made sure he got the free throw in the basket before being helped down to the locker room. But not before his Coach noticed the disappointment on his face.

“You could see the disappointment on his face in the back. That’s my biggest concern, is just keeping him lifted,” he said. The Big 3 of the Suns have only played for 24 minutes together so far. Not to mention, Beal just played only six games this season, averaging 16.4 points, four rebounds and 3.6 assists on 40% 3-point shooting.
Being frustrated is a normal reaction. But health is ultimately the top priority. With the kind of support Bradley Beal has been getting from his teammates, this won’t take too much of a toll on him, mentally. And hopefully, Beal doesn’t take too long this time.
