Well, that didn’t go as expected! No one would have expected the much-awaited boxing match-up between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul to go down like that. Iron Mike, who entered the arena with his usual swagger, couldn’t replicate it in his fight as he effortlessly did in his prime. Most importantly, this unfortunate twist to the bout disappointed a lot of fans around the globe, including NBA superstars like Damian Lillard, and Trae Young.

Some may say, “What do you expect out of a match-up between a 27-year-old and a 58-year-old?” Well, it’s not very often you see Mike Tyson as an underdog heading into a match. Unfortunately, the fight ended up the way most of the fans feared. The old legs of Tyson couldn’t keep up with Paul’s speed. Guess what, the 6x Heavyweight Champion survived eight rounds and the YouTube star took home the win after a unanimous decision.

Even though it was a commendable effort for a man pushing to his 60s to stand throughout eight rounds, it was a really painful experience for the fans to watch. And, the NBA stars didn’t mince words while expressing their experience. Cleveland Cavaliers superstar Donovan Mitchell immediately wanted an out, as he wrote, “Please someone get Mike outta there,” with a laughing emoji. He didn’t stop at that. He further went on to blame the streaming platform, writing, “Netflix not locked in man,” via X.

On the other hand, Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young had a concern with the way the fight went, as he wrote, “Mike not even swinging dawg.” Iron Mike had an impressive first two rounds, landing a few good punches. But after that, he was happy to absorb the punches for the remainder of the rounds.
