Floyd Mayweather has always been a boxing icon, with his $400 million worth making him the richest boxer in the world. However, all of his fortune was once ready to go to an NBA team that is potentially ruling the league in terms of publicity. It is the Minnesota Timberwolves, and thanks to Anthony Edwards’ sheer potential to become the league’s next face, the team is the buzz among the NBA community. Nevertheless, the 47-year-old could not buy the team due to the unprecedented situation that he revealed during a sitdown with Wolves co-owner A-Rod.
About two years ago, Floyd Mayweather shed light on the Wolves buyout as he stated, “I’ve been working on buying this team for a few years now but the reason why it wasn’t able to happen when I was trying to buy the team, was they told me that I can purchase the team but I can’t move the team out of Minnesota.” Apparently, it seems Floyd started trying for the buyout much before his official statement. Pretty Boy even confessed in 2017 that it was “about time” for him to own an NBA team.
By the fall of 2022, Floyd even revealed, “Working on buying an NBA team outright. So the first offer, we offered them a little over $2 billion for majority ownership.” The only team available at the time that Money made the revelation was the Phoenix Suns. However, the deal could not be realized most probably because of the actual significance of Suns at that time. But the Wolves deal that Floyd Mayweather mentioned struck a weird dead end when he added, ” It’s like it’s just like a relationship. You got a woman, she don’t work, you do all the bringing but she do all the dictating.”

He did not reveal any details, but obviously, it was not “going to work” for the 47-year-old. Yet after all this time, Floyd has not lost their admiration for the Wolves as he asked their icon for assistance ahead of his Gotti fight.
Floyd Mayweather keeps the respect with Timberwolves alive with his latest gesture
Despite the upsetting realization that he had to get for buying Timberwolves, Floyd Mayweather did not lose his admiration. If that had been the reason, he wouldn’t have called Anthony Edwards to join his entourage. Anthony Davis and Ant-Man will be accompanying Floyd Mayweather to the ring when the boxing veteran will fight Gotti III again. And it is not the first time that Floyd will be going to unite with Edwards publicly.
About three years ago, Anthony Edwards and Floyd Mayweather united to get a pair of boxing gloves. As per the snippet of the unison, Anthony Edwards fanboying over a pair of signed boxing gloves from the 47-year-old. It is evident that the Edwards-Floyd relationship has not corroded over the test of time.
