During a recent interview, Jayson Tatum expressed frustration about his name constantly being snubbed from the discussion of the next Face of the NBA, “They can always debate. But it’s like, I check off all the boxes.” Well, he certainly has the resume to back that claim, with multiple All-Star appearances and a championship. Yet, many believe he lacks the aura that LeBron James and Stephen Curry possess, making him unfit to carry the torch after they retire. Some even despise Tatum because of the franchise he plays for. But what is super-agent Rich Paul’s opinion about the Celtics star?

Revealing why he believes Tatum faces constant disrespect from the media and the hoop community despite his accomplishments, Paul said on The Pat McAfee Show, “Because he’s drama free, you know. I think people like drama obviously. And he’s drama free. He plays the game the right way, and he’s a dream client.”

Although JT has been in the limelight since he was a rookie, he has never been part of any off-court controversies. Probably the most trouble he has been in are the questionable techs he receives during games, for basic actions like clapping aggressively or waiving off an official. Seems like an ideal superstar and role model! But Rich believes fans are more gravitated towards stars who have more drama going on beyond the hardwood.

“You know this idea of people not liking Jayson Tatum because he’s so accomplished and he goes to work and go home; to me, that sounds like the perfect client,” he noted. But Paul wasn’t done. He continued with the praise for the Celtics star: “I know Jayson Tatum. I know him very well. So, you know it’s hard to appease everybody, but if I was coaching Jayson Tatum, I’d play him 48 minutes. He’s just that good.”

Surprisingly, some Boston fans interpreted the agent’s comments as a potential threat!

What’s your perspective on:

Does Jayson Tatum's lack of drama make him the perfect role model or just too boring for the NBA?

Celtics fans urge Rich Paul to “Back The F— Away” from Jayson Tatum

While addressing the Tatum disrespect, Rich frequently called him the “perfect client” and many fans thought it was an attempt to lure him to sign with Klutch Sports. As of now, Jeff Wechsler and Rishi Daulat are JT’s agents and have done a great job with him, even helping him bag a five-year $315 million supermax extension last summer.

So, Celtics fans sent a stern warning to Paul, as comments like “Keep Klutch Sports tf away from my team” “Keep your hands off my franchise star, he’s a SAINT!” and “back the f— away Rich. Back. the f—. away” began flooding in. Of course, aligning with Klutch Sports would bring Tatum closer to the umbrella where LeBron operates and it could threaten his future with the Celtics with a potential trade. And Boston fans would hate to see that happen.

Some furious netizens even indirectly called out LBJ after Paul’s comments, “You and your boy stay away from JT.”

Meanwhile, fans also praised Celtics management amid this threat, “Brad Stevens builds real rosters, you have no power here Rich Paul. Go away.” Of course, Stevens is the current President of Basketball Operations for the Celtics and has done an incredible job of building a championship caliber roster. So, even if Paul meant it as a compliment, the fans do not want to risk ruining this perfect situation in Boston.
