The NBA season is over, and it is time for the victors to celebrate. For the first time since 2008, the prestigious Larry O’Brien trophy will be returning to the city of Boston. In the next few hours, the people of the ‘city of champions’ will be taking to the streets to celebrate the Boston Celtics, as members of its roster will be honored by a ‘Duck Boat’ parade. The route, which will run from TD Garden to the Hynes Convention Center, will therefore be closed for general use. Furthermore, extended road closures will accompany this, as over 4 main streets will be temporarily shut down, while 40+ streets will have parking restrictions. For people attempting to reach the nucleus of the main event, these restrictions will prove a hassle. Fortunately, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority already has a plan in place to ease these tensions.

A few hours ago, the official X account of the government agency put out a video. While commemorating the Celtics’ 18 championship win, the agency offered the services of its metro trains that will help passengers get where they wish to, within the city, without having to deal with the road closures. According to their official website, the MBTA will be running “rush-hour service on the subway all day”. Furthermore, a couple of the Commuter Rail trains are expected to run with a couple of extra cars attached to them. This way, the trains will be able to carry more passengers during peak hours. With the motto “Take our rolling rally to theirs”, they ensure to serve as a source of convenience when heading out to view the celebratory parade.

Along with providing the extra help, the Agency also offers a digital trip planner to the people, allowing them to plan out their route, reach their destination, and not miss out on any highlights of the parade. For people who may not choose to take the train, the MBTA will also be running ferries on their regular weekday schedules.

“Friday will be a busy but joyous day as we all celebrate the Boston Celtics’ 18th Championship victory” said MBTA CEO Phillip Eng. “In support of this, the MBTA is ready to provide increased service to our regular riders and to those heading to the city to celebrate.” Along with the CEO, the agency’s transit police chief, Kenneth Green, also put out a statement in which he informed that members of his team “will have an enhanced presence throughout the day”.

The ease of convenience while travelling, along with the MBTA police being dispatched to provide extra security, will all but tempt fans to get out of their home and celebrate the team who made the dreams of thousands of Boston Citizens a reality.

According to reports, the parade is set to commence from 11 am, and will last for about 90 minutes. It will start from the TD Garden, go from Causeway Street to the route along Staniford Street, reach Cambridge Street, Tremont Street, and then the Boylston Street, at the end of which will be the Hynes Convention Center. More than a million people are expected to be present during this joyous event. The parade is reportedly expected to have over two dozen duck boats that will carry Jayson Tatum and other members of the Celtics roster.

A major concern during this event will be the Heat Wave that the Massachusetts city has been experiencing for quite some time now. The same had caused Boston Mayor Michelle Wu to declare a heat emergency that began on Tuesday and will end on Thursday. For the parade itself, with temperatures expected to go as high as 100 degrees, the mayor is urging citizens to “stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity, when possible, wear plenty of sunscreen” and keep an eye out for their friends and loved ones attending the event.
