Booing in the TD Garden is not uncommon. Ask Steve Kerr. The Boston Celtics are some of the most passionate in the NBA. But booing their own players? Well, unexpected. The C’s were looking to boost fan engagement by releasing their stars’ opinions on NFL players. In the Grizzlies game, a pre-recorded video of each player was asked to start one, bench one, and cut one from Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers. All had a tough time choosing Mahomes or Brady, except for Jaylen Brown and Sam Hauser.

When it was time for Brown and Hauser to make their picks, they both chose Aaron Rodgers over Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, a decision that quickly ruffled feathers in Boston. Fans, who view Brady as an icon and hero, couldn’t believe their ears!

TD Garden, typically filled with cheers, echoed with boos instead. It’s not often the C’s face backlash from their supporters, but this was different. The choice to favor Rodgers, despite his rivalry with Brady, felt like a betrayal to a city that proudly calls Brady its own.

In Boston, they’ve got their quirks—no “r’s” in their speech and love for Dunkin Donuts. But the real kicker?

They treat Tom Brady like a god. It’s almost as if he’s untouchable in this city, where his legacy looms larger than life. And when someone like Brown picks Rodgers over Brady? That’s a betrayal many fans just can’t stomach. He was given a second chance to rectify his ‘mistake’ but then he chose Mahomes over Brady! A double betrayal. At this point he was up there with Kyrie Irving as public enemy number one.

But third time’s the charm, right? Well, Brown couldn’t pick one the third time, he just said “All are great”. Looks like that’s the best he can do for the C’s fans.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Jaylen Brown just commit the ultimate Boston sports sin by choosing Rodgers over Brady?

Looks like the booing got to Brown, as his performance wasn’t something to write home about.

Booing weighs Jaylen Brown down.

Jaylen Brown had one of the oddest performances we’ve seen from him this season. Despite playing 35 minutes, logging 22 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists, it felt like he wasn’t really involved in the offense. The thing is, he was efficient, but it wasn’t in the way you’d expect from a star. It wasn’t that Brown was playing a pass-first role either; it was more like he wasn’t part of the offensive game plan at all. Typically, you expect the Finals MVP to be one of the focal points, but not this time.

With Jrue Holiday taking a big chunk of the offensive load and Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis getting their looks, JB seemed to fade into the background. Even when he tried to turn it on, in the fourth quarter, things didn’t improve much. He struggled with turnovers, and it felt like he wasn’t in control.

The sloppy ball handling was a rare sight for a guy who usually takes care of the rock. By the end of the game, it was clear this performance wasn’t the Jaylen Brown we’re used to seeing. The Celtics star seemed off, and his quiet night capped off what was, in the end, a puzzling performance.
