One historic trade and Texas hasn’t settled down yet! Every passing day, the situation at the Dallas Mavericks camp keeps getting worse. Moreover, the circumstances also don’t seem to help their cause. Anthony Davis, who replaced the Mavs’ golden boy Luka Doncic, didn’t last for one game, as the team sidelined him for several weeks with a calf injury. On top of it, tonight, Daniel Gafford exited early with a concerning knee injury. While it ignited the wrath of already upset fans, Nico Harrison and Patrick Dumont had their ways to keep the fans in check.
Ever since the Luka trade got through, the fans have engaged in endless protests in various forms. There was a staged funeral, sloganeering, online ranting, and many more. Tonight, the fans took it to the Mavs home court, as the Texas side hosted the Sacramento Kings. While the players kept the NBA world busy with a tight overtime game, the fans at the arena kept the security personnel busy.
Firstly, the fans joined hands for one of the most effective forms of protest inside the arena, the good old booing. Especially, it wasn’t a directionless noise to express their dissent, but a directed attack. According to ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, fans booed in unison on two particular incidents. In the first instance, it was directed at the Mavs Governor Patrick Dumont when he returned to his courtside seats. Well, it could be the aftermath of his recent statement on Luka Doncic. Before we address what he said about Luka, let’s move on to the second instance.

MacMahon reported that several fans were escorted off the arena mid-game, but he couldn’t find the reason. You don’t need us to tell you that the man caught strays for that!
There have been three booing instances in the second half of Kings-Mavs. The first was when Mavs governor Patrick Dumont returned to his courtside seat. The others were when fans were escorted out of the lower bowl by security (didn’t see why).

Moreover, several videos on the internet revealed that securities confiscated green signs that read ‘Fire Nico’. We aren’t sure whether the same fans were ejected from the arena for using the signs. Hilariously, a particular fan found a special way to express his dissent and paid the price for it too.
Amid protest against Nico Harrison, Mavs’ arena goes haywire
Fans found creative ways to speak their mind. During one of the breaks, Mavs management organized a karaoke challenge for the fans seated in the arena. One of the perks of visiting the live NBA game is witnessing the game on the JumboTron and if they are lucky enough, they get a feature too.

Tonight, one lucky Mavs fan took the opportunity to his advantage. While singing the karaoke, the fan mouthed ‘Fire Nico’ with a straight face and the operators immediately shifted the camera to a couple of other fans. Guess what? Moments later, the fan was escorted off the court amid loud boos directed at the officials. So, one thing is very clear. The fans are definitely not happy with the Mavs management.

While the fans expressed their anger only toward Nico Harrison for channeling the trade as a GM, recently Governor Patrick Dumont walked straight into the fire. Speaking about the Luka-AD trade, Dumont said, “If you look at the greats in the league, the people you and I grew up with — Jordan, Bird, Kobe, Shaq — they worked really hard, every day, with a singular focus to win. And if you don’t have that, it doesn’t work. And if you don’t have that, you shouldn’t be part of the Dallas Mavericks. That’s who we want. I’m unwavering on this,” as per the Bleacher Report.
It did nothing but register the fact that he was also involved in the trade decision. So, what do you make of the fans’ anger? Justified, or is it time to just let it go and move on? Let us know in the comments.
