Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr are the prime faces driving the Golden State Warriors dominance run in the past decade. However, lurking behind the gunning instance of Curry’s long ranger and Kerr’s strategic efficiency are the contributions of Bob Myers. Myers held the position currently occupied by Mike Dunleavy Jr, serving as the catalyst behind the Warriors’ 4 championships in recent years.
So, when the former general manager marked his return to the arena after 10 months, he anticipated a normal outing. However, the Warriors, behind their love for the former GM and his three daughters, deployed a tribute in honor of his contributions to the franchise.
As the Warriors geared up to face the Milwaukee Bucks, a tribute video echoed on the jumbotron in the packed arena. With that, Myers’ three daughters took center stage, announcing their father’s presence in the vicinity. The crowd swiftly directed their attention towards Myers’ seat, echoing the applause and cheers on his return. Even though Myers made a valiant effort to maintain composure, he could not help but get a little emotional. Adding to the applause were Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and the Warriors roster, as Myers stood up and waved to acknowledge the arena.

Myers became the franchise’s assistant GM in 2011. Soon, he was promoted to general manager within a year, in April 2012. The Warriors already had Stephen Curry at the time. However, Myers played a pivotal role in recruiting Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, forming the ‘Splash Brothers’ narratives, as Curry began reshaping the game.

Regardless, Myers’ expertise was on full display while orchestrating Andrew Wiggins’ entry into the roster after Kevin Durant’s departure – a strategic move that proved instrumental in their 2022 championship run.
What is Bob Myers doing now?
“It’s just time,” Bob Myers said when he was probed about the reason behind signing off his time as a GM for the Warriors. With 4 championships and an ongoing dynasty, there was a fleeting consideration that Myers’ compensation catalyzed his departure. However, so far, he has never voiced such concerns and emphasized a desire to delve into new ventures as his sole reason. His decision came after the Warriors’ loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the playoffs last year, prompting several foundational changes in the franchise.

However, since stepping down, Myers has ventured into his desired spaces, a television career and a consultancy role. Currently, he marks his presence as an NBA analyst for ESPN since Augusto 2023. Moreover, he is also working as a consultant/advisor for the NFL’s Washington Commanders, offered to him recently.
