Home/NBA

LeBron James, for no fault of his, has ended up once again in the spotlight. If he thought his social media following would be left alone, the ‘King’ has another thing coming. Then again, we suppose that’s the price the living legend has to pay for global fame. Except for whatever happens inside their California home, everything else is out for the public eye.

A Twitter page dedicated to monitoring social media activity around the league, NBA Alerts, originally shared the latest activity on the 4x champion’s X account. Overtime shared the post on Instagram, captioning it, “This might not mean anything but I had to share 💀 (via thenbaalert/X)”

The post featured some prominent names around the NBA, namely Blake Griffin, Ben Simmons, and Kendrick Perkins. Pretty sure you can understand why the ‘Akron Hammer’ would unfollow the last name on the list.

The ESPN analyst was among the few who were quite vocal in his displeasure with the Lakers superstar for his praises for Dallas superstar, Kyrie Irving. In a recent episode of his pod with JJ Redick, Mind The Game, LeBron was full of praise for his former Cavs teammate. He said that there was nothing Irving couldn’t do on the floor. And if there was one thing he was mad, it was that he was “not his running mate anymore.”

Calling Bron out, ‘Big Perk’ didn’t sugarcoat his words. Here we go again. Bron weaseling his way into somebody else’s moment. Like, this is not about you. Your team is at home. This is about the Mavs and the Celtics. Yet, your so mad and disappointed that you’re not Kyrie Irving’s running mate anymore.” See what we mean?

But what about the other two? In fact, LeBron James had recently given flowers to the ex-Clippers legend, Blake Griffin in February. After a particularly brilliant outing from Wembanyama during the Lakers 123-118 win on Feb. 23rd, the ‘L Train’ was asked his thoughts on the “generational talent”. Along with giving props to the 2024 ROTY, he said that Griffin was one of the most impressive rookies he saw in his career.

As such, the sudden change of mind on the part of James is up for speculation. As for Nets star, Ben Simmons, his recent decision to part ways with Klutch Sports could be the reason. Again, we have to remind you, these are just related factors. By no means are they the actual reason.

Can anyone predict what isreally going through one of the greatest basketball minds ever? Not for a certainty, but it has never stopped fans from giving it their best shot!

Amused fans leave even more amusing comments to the latest LeBron James move

A widely sought-after shooting coach by NBA and WNBA players, Chris Mathews (IG: lethalshooter), was simply blown away by this piece of news. Mathews’ amusement and disbelief was clear in his comment, “How do ya’ll know these type of facts,” followed by an exploding-head emoji. He wasn’t alone in his thoughts, either.

Popular YouTuber and aspiring comedian, Da Kid Gowie, commented next. “Who keeps track of this, and why?” As mentioned above, there are dedicated pages for tracking just this. Again, the price to pay for the fame that comes with success and wealth.

While few comments continued in this fashion, there was a segment who believed it was downright insane to be keeping tabs of who is following whom. “nah havin alerts for a man unfollowing is insanity,” followed by a pair of skull emojis. We don’t have to tell you that were quite a few who wholeheartedly agreed with this user.

Yet another group included those talking about the Griffin and Perkins angle. An individual commented, “what did blake griffin do,” followed by a crying and praying hand emoji. If we have to really say soemthing, the only instance that comes to mind is when he delivered a reality check to the 2021 Lakers. The Purple & Gold were stacking up their roster in the off season with an impressive haul of NBA veterans.

They included Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Rajan Rondo, Dwight Howard, and more. However, Griffin wasn’t impressed. Playing for the Nets at the time, he had said, “You look at it but at the end of the day, things on paper, it’s tough to say. I’ve been in situations where a team stacks up and it doesn’t work out.” He was probably referring to his personal experience with DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul during his Clippers time.

And finally, this user commented, “Bron unfollowed Kendrick Perkins for speaking on him.” We already mentioned the details of this interaction above. Well, what do you guys think of this new move? Do you think its childish to have an alert for something like this? Or is it just as important as other factors? Let us know your thoughts.
