In a world of scandals, does Kyrie Irving's devotion to his wife restore your faith in athletes?

Kyrie Irving continues to collect hearts in the NBA world. After a disappointing loss against the Boston Celtics, the hoops nation witnessed a series of wholesome videos of the superstar guard at various gym facilities interacting with the fans. ‘Kai’ definitely seemed to have overcome the Finals loss. While the videos of him interacting with the fans went viral on social media, the latest interaction not only took over the internet but also fetched him a lot of love. Especially since it showcased his loyalty to his wife, Marlene Wilkerson.

A fan approached Kai with a mic in his hand, asking, “You had a hall pass with any celebrity. Who would it be?” at a gym. Irving, unsure of the question, asked, “A hall pass? What’d you mean?” The fan clarified it, saying, “That means you can mess with any celebrity you want to.” Taken aback by the question, ‘Uncle Drew’ said, “Oh, I love my wife Marlene Wilkerson. Yo! Shout out to my wife and my kids.” In response to the video clip, a fan impressed with the superstar’s loyalty, wrote“Ah yes, what an honorable man!”

The NBA world doesn’t really know much about Kyrie Irving‘s personal life. In fact, the Dallas Mavericks guard has kept it private. The star was reportedly spotted with Marlene at the Kyrie Irving Youth Basketball Tournament in 2018. Following that, the couple seemingly have married each other and a few years later, Wilkerson opened up about her motherhood via social media.

While Irving hasn’t said much about his wife in public, he once expressed his love for her on a social media post in 2022. He wrote, “I love you and I am eternally grateful we get to spend our lives together. You have taught me so much about Balance, Love, Trust, Community, and Forgiveness.” Apart from these social media posts, Wilkerson can be spotted on the courtside seats along with her daughter.

Another fan dug deep into Kyrie’s words and reminded the NBA world about an important statement. While many star ballers are said to be working on their media image through PR, Irving seemed barely worried about that.

In fact, he once became the most hated player at the TD Garden. Speaking of his mindset, once Kai said, “It’s okay to be human. Like, I don’t have to be perfect for anyone here, nor do I have to be perfect for the public. So I’m not here to dispel any perception. I’m just here to be myself.”

Going against the majority, this fan decided to take a shot at Irving. They wrote“If only he was faithful to the teams he played for.” Irving had the betrayal accusations ever since he left the Celtics to join the Brooklyn Nets. Since then, he had a tough time whenever he stepped inside TD Garden, as they always welcomed him with ‘boos’ and demoralizing ‘chants’. Nevertheless, as Kyrie mentioned in his statement, “I don’t have to be perfect for anyone here”, he indeed can’t please everyone. But he did sweep a majority of fans with his wholesome response.
