Detroit had a rough night yesterday. Not only did they lose in the NBA, but also in the NFL. However, someone seemed to enjoy both losses. There are no points for guessing that it was Kevin Durant. The Suns’ forward had a night to remember, relishing in his team’s victory along with a personal achievement that grabbed the spotlight. But just as the celebrations began, the joy was overshadowed by something unexpected.

Following the 125-121 win against the Pistons, Durant moved into the Top 10 spot on the All-time free throw leaders list. His 66.7% success from the charity stripe last night helped him to unlock the new record. Before stepping onto the court, the 36-year-old had 7153 free throws in his NBA career.

However, his precise 8-of-12 shots from the line allowed him to surpass the legendary Jerry West and claim the ninth spot. Durant will need another 80 free throws to move past Dirk Nowitzki, who sits just above him on the list. By the end of the game, KD scored 36 points coupled with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Moreover, Durant’s beloved NFL team, the Washington Commanders, pulled off a massive 45-31 victory over the Detroit Lions in the divisional round yesterday. It was a big step toward the NFC Championship Game, something they hadn’t achieved since 1991. Naturally, the win made it even sweeter for Durant. And like any passionate fan celebrated with some dance moves.

Durant dug up an old video from his time with the Warriors, where he’s surrounded by Klay Thompson and some of his former teammates all enjoying his pregame dance moves. He shared the video on X with the caption, “Have a great night Detroit.” It was a sly dig at Lions’ Jahmyr Gibbs, who had copied Durant’s dance during the game, all while knowing KD’s deep love for Washington. Little did the 14-time NBA All-Star know, his post would spark some negative reactions.

Commenting on Kevin Durant’s post, one fan wrote, “I don’t like this ni–a.” That took the big man by surprise. Known for frequently engaging with fans on social media, KD asked, “What I do?” Without giving him a break the fan continued with the argument.

“You f–k up my parlays & you think you funny!!!” they wrote boiling with anger. Durant too didn’t back down and responded with what he thought was a befitting reply, “What Kuz say yesterday. Maybe u just stink at cookin up parlays 🤷🏾‍♂️. Good thing is, you can learn from these mistakes and be better next time.”

Durant reminded the fan of a post from Wizards star Kyle Kuzma’s now-expired Instagram story, where he had called out a bettor who criticized him for not winning their bets. “Have they ever once thought… ‘Damn, maybe I’m a– at picking parlays?'” he said. KD gave his troll a similar logic, pointing out that maybe the fan was just bad at picking parlays echoing Kuzma’s sentiment.

The fan then revealed they were from Detroit and took offense to Durant’s bashing of their side. They fired back, saying if KD scored 40 next time and didn’t laugh at their city losing, they wouldn’t have a problem. KD chose to move on from the back-and-forth and not entertain it any longer as the losses were enough for the fan to digest already.
