NBA is the premier professional basketball league in the world. However, it was their expansion that made the league one of the most popular across the world. The NBA began play in 1946 with 11 teams, as part of the BAA. Over the years, it has expanded to the 30 team league that it is now. By bringing in the Toronto Raptors from Canada as well, the NBA has truly grown into an international phenomenon. Given their history, the NBA could be assumed to be expanding any time. However, the Phoenix Suns forward, Kevin Durant feels differently.

In a recent interview, the Slim Reaper was asked his opinion on the NBA expanding beyond 30 teams in the near future. “It can’t be,” he replied. “The NBA is so huge but I don’t know if the owners will want to split that up amongst new teams.

However, he also stated that he likes the idea of the NBA expansion. “Yeah, I feel like it could be four or five new teams you know, everybody loves basketball.

Durant also mentioned his own experience in Oklahoma City saying, “What these franchises do to a city, I was a part of a expansion like franchise in OKC, and to see where that city was in 2008, 2009…..a lot of that is because of an injection of a sports franchise into that city.”

He has stated in several interviews and segments about his keen interest in owning a team in Sin City. However, despite his multiple statements, there is no news of the NBA expanding to Vegas.
